B I O G R A P H Y
Most dragons who had grown tired of his stubborn attitude and cold demeanor addressed him as "Hey, you!". Other dragons, such as the sweet Viridian, who believed that all dragons deserved a name and that the nickname 'Frigid' was horrible and cruel, refused to follow suit. (She had taken to calling him 'Bob'. It was not the most flattering name, and it was at times like this that Frigid found Viridian's kind and innocent antics to be annoying and unbearable.) Although Frigid commanded his clan mostly with icy, unforgiving glares, he had a soft spot, with only enough room for his mate Jani. It was lucky that she was so small for a female imperial; it was in this way that she managed to squeeze in. This is the story of Frigid, and how he met his mate. Puya flexed his wings. He did this often, as he liked to hear the jangle of jewelry when he moved. On this day, he was feeling especially proud, and moved his wings extra in order to express it. His mate's eggs were to hatch any minute. He had had so many hatchlings already, and he knew that this one couldn't possibly go wrong. All of his children turned out just as beautiful as him. There was nothing to wor- "Puya!" His mate's screech alerted him. "They're hatching!" Puya rushed over to the nest, making sure to hold his wings at just the right angle so that the jewelry glinted in the sun. "Coming," he muttered under his breath. Wives could be so needy! He reached the cave in time to see the last one hatch. Wisteria huffed, then carried off the hatchlings. Now what did I do wrong? Puya wondered. He followed his mate and looked over his newest children, frowning. "What's wrong this time?" Wisteria said, punctuating her question with a sigh. She sure sighed a lot these days. "Nothing. They're all perfect..." Puya made his pout extra noticeable. "Except for that one." He jabbed a claw at none other than Frigid, who had not been given the nickname yet, and was not yet icy cold. "What about him?" Wisteria said, puzzled. Puya replied, rolling his eyes. "He's looking at me funny." |

One day something didn't feel right. Call it a shift in the air, whatever you want. But Frigid realized that he seemed to be flying... a bit further than usual. While he had certainly flew far before, Frigid had never crossed the border between the Tangled Wood and the water territory. But now that he realized he was far, why should he go back? Who would he return to? Heck, he didn't even need to stop. He didn't need to turn around. He could just keep going, and going, and going. Over seas and oceans, over waves and riptides and currents. And he just kept going. It was only when Frigid came across an aggressive dragon with murder in his eye that he was forced to stop. Jani never understood what borders were for, but she followed the rules and kept to the Windswept Plain. Where else would she go, anyway? Although she sorely wanted to travel, she knew she wouldn't make it without getting seriously hurt by fierce defenders. But then here came this handsome dragon, doing everything she had always wanted to do. His violet eyes betrayed that he was a Shadow dragon. Dark and mysterious. Swoon! And brave, too, to come so far from his home. Jani knew that she had to do something. She never knew why Hector attacked strangers, anyway.... Years later, Frigid and Jani became mates. Frigid joined her Wind clan without telling his parents. They had so many dragons to take care of, they probably wouldn't notice him missing anyway. Together Frigid and his mate had a few hatchlings. Although the Wind clan wouldn't accept him at first, Jani quickly convinced them. So much, in fact, that Frigid became Leader. And even with the occasional hostile clanmate, he was as happy as he had ever been. |
