In the constant darkness of the Tangled Woods, time easily slips between a dragon's claws, and one of the most important roles amongst the shadows is that of the Timekeeper. That role, in the Midnight Shelter, is taken by Nebri, an old, patient dragon with an unreadable face and a kind heart that keeps a pocket watch on him at all times. Nebri has lost track of time once before, when, to escape the pain of mourning his mate, he slept through decades. He was woken up by a clumsy, near-sighted Guardian by the name of Demetra, who, not seeing him in the dark, accidentally stepped on his tail.
