Harry Potter has brought so much joy to so many people, and the Sorting Hatchery was created to partake in and spread that joy. It has since become undeniably evident that the author, JK Rowling, is unapologetically transphobic, and that her books, popular though they are, are rife with racial stereotypes and other content harmful to minorities.

It's okay to love something that came from someone problematic, but it's not okay to ignore the problems of its origin. The Sorting Hatchery unequivocally stands up for people who are transgender, BIMPOC, and otherwise marginalized.
