Llew was the former Witch of the Western Wind for Vela before passing the title onto Venus. The position was too demanding--requiring him to guide Vela's young out into the world. He didn't have the patience for it. Unfortunately, once the title is accepted, the only way to pass it on is to literally pass on.

But Llew gets what he wants. And, although it took a few decades, he finally perfected a spell that would spark the life in his body after death. He's been mostly pleased with the results (the whole "seeing your bones through your glow-y body" thing was a surprise, though).
