Biography
If you stick around the lair long enough, you'll hear his name. Maybe it's spoken to a passerby, telling his story in a hushed voice. Maybe it's someone looking for him to return from his morning patrol. Or maybe it's another dragon looking to see where he's snuck off to now. Either way, chances are, if you're from around here, you will or have heard of Monochrome, Son Of Shadows.
The only child to a great leader of the Shadow flight, Monochrome free up with lots of expectation on his shoulders. He was groomed as an heir, but really, all he wanted was to fly. Now, there's something... odd, you might say, about Monochrome's flight. Well, that is, if you're lucky enough to see it.
His wings swivel.
No, I don't mean swivel as in a normal, "I'm just turning really qhick" swive. No, I mean his entire wing bone seems to dislocate. He was called a freak by his father, and forsaken to ever fly again, lest he bring shame onto his land as the future leader. So, he lay, rotting in his father's palace.
Or at least, that's what he's like his father to believe.
Every chance he could, Monochrome would go flying. Now, he was careful, and always made sure no one saw him. He had been caught by his father before, but on one occasion, his father had enough.
Monochrome was banished, to compete in a game for his life. There, he won, though at a cost, losing friend's, and people that had been the closest thing he had to loved ones.
So, when stumbled into the cave that our now humble clan calls home, head high and proud, eyes still fresh from battle, blood fresh on his scales, and passed out, you'd think he'd count himself lucky to find a place with a former healer as a leader, right?
Wrong. Monochrome reverted back to his old ways, at the beginning of the competition. He forbade himself from flying, ate rarely, and didn't talk to anyone.
After a while, he slowly began to ease into his new life. He went to Meta to ask if he had permission to fly. Meta just laughed. "You need not ask me if you can or cannot. It is up to you, Monochrome." The old dragon had chuckled. Monochrome had stood shocked in silence for a moment, and then walked to the edge of a sea cliff. He tossed himself off, and from that moment onward, Monochrome was free. He ran his claws along the water, and let the cool beach breezes drift him. He landed, to be greeted by his clan mates, remarking about how good at flying he was. He was struck by One, Damilin, a beautiful white Pearlcatcher.
The two later fell in love, and one morning while Monochrome was out, Afriel, Carolina, and Damilin had found a Water Flight egg, washed on the shore. The two quickly realized it was abandoned, and took it as their own. A little while later their son, Aircatcher was born. While the family has had its difficulties, they all love each other very much, and Monochrome would die to protect them. He wants the best for his son, as he can understand what it's like to not have a great childhood. He's very proud of the young dragon he's become, and he and Damilin sometimes walk along the beach and watch their son flying high in the sky, just like his father.
