Biography
MOON
Moonwatcher-mostly called Moon- is a kind Pearlcatcher whose only goal in life is to make everybody smile. She's innocent, and clueless, and clumsy, and it's a safe assumption to make that she's the friendliest dragon in the Clan (and maybe out of all the dragons you'll ever meet). Then again, that's true only if she's actually a dragon at all.
There's a lot of evidence pointing to the contrary, if you know where to look.
As much as that sounds like wild conjecture, it's not a conclusion anybody came to without actual evidence. Moon is, after all, the nicest one in the entire Clan and at first glance is probably actually the last one you'd expect to be an eldritch abomination in disguise, as ominous as her getup can be. But there is evidence, and all put together there's little to excuse it. It's in the way she can tell if anybody ever lies, in the way she never gets tired and has never been found asleep, in the way her voice actually takes a voice-of-the-legion effect on the rare occasion she's made angry, in how she refuses to let anyone see her eyes under the hood no matter what. You know it in the way she shows total disregard for her pearl unless prompted, how in times of hardship nobody ever sees her eat and she’s fine all the same, practically seems to be more energetic than usual anyway.
And while Soleil is the only witness to this last point- though Soleil would never lie, never truly could, and she has never been enough of an actor to fake the terror on her face back then- she told everyone that she was out with Moon scavenging when Beastclan attacked, and Moon moved faster than any dragon could have possibly been. When she was injured by a chance strike, before it sealed itself almost immediately- Soleil says that that drop of blood had been a black so deep you could tell it was there only by the way it covered Moon’s scales, and she says that when it hit the ground the ground under began to dissolve.
So maybe Moon is a demon beyond draconic understanding, or whatever; somehow, to the Tempest Band, it doesn't truly matter, because she's Moon-Moon, who wouldn't harm a fly unless it hurt a friend first. She's almost painfully loyal and trusting and quick to assume the best, for someone who could be millenia old for all they know, and it's somehow endearing. She is most likely a monster and they should probably try to figure out for sure or destroy her, or something, and yet all the same nobody ever even seriously considers it.
Of course, nothing is ever all it seems to be.
Moon has lied to the Clan, too. She doesn't spend all her weekends volunteering- she spends every other one working and getting paid to anonymously contribute it to the band’s treasury or a charity. She'd rather be an actor than a singer. And once she used her power to cheat at Go Fish, and she still feels horribly guilty about it.
So Moon works as another server and innkeeper and everybody likes her from the regulars to the first-timers and she somehow remembers everybody’s order (Suzume would tell you she hadn’t believed it was possible till she saw it). Nobody knows what Moon’s goals are, if she has any, but by Windsinger they trust them.
