He is Ahriman’s brother, though the two don’t seem to refer to one another as such. Unlike his elder brother he seemed unaffected by the Shade that plagues the rest of his family, and was thusly sent away by their mother. Sensing the dormant shade that was resting within the Nocturne's heart was slowly killing him, Ollie eagerly helped release Malphas’s innate corruption by using his own. Now with proper access to his family’s hereditary gift, the male is considered a fully fledged member of his cultish clan, and no longer suffers the intolerable nightmares and pain his prior state had forced upon him. To repay this debt, Malphas works alongside the misfit dragons as a member of their little clan. Malphas is very good at translating Ruagos's patched-together grunts and sign language that he uses for communication, most likely due to his long-past experience with his mute brother before he was sent away. This has granted him a comfortable bond with the intimidating ridgeback. He can often be seen perched on the hulking suit of armor in his dragon form, or accompanying him as a young man at his side. The shade resting within his heart allows him access to high-class elemental magics, though the tradeoff is that said magic always takes on a corrupt form, and will not react with other elements. It is thus only good for combat and has no utility, dealing massive amounts of damage only to living creatures. |
