As a young dragon he almost instantly knew his charge when he saw it. A book it was old fashioned with a red leather cover of some sort. In the land of the Shifting Expanse books were not cared for in the advanced region he lived in so when he found this book he brought it back to the clan he lived in as carefully as he could. When his father saw the book he tried to reason with the young Guardian that a simple old book is not a thing to protect. He was not about to let his young son a child of a clan leader of thunder protect a worthless object as a book as his charge. So thus he took the book from his son planning to do away with it at later time leaving the small guardian in despair which was not unseen by his mother. She knew what had happened and watched as her mate hid the book away. Later that night she brought the young Guardian the book that his father took and told him to travel to the land of Gladekeeper knowing a clan that would take him in. The young Thunderwave left his home with his book that never left his side after that occurrence with his father. As he traveled he began to read his dear book learning forgotten knowledge the region of thunder would never care to learn. When he arrived to the clan that would take him in he had grown into a fine adult Guardian with much knowledge from his book. As he began to settle down he was given a companion of sorts a very interesting looking one at that a Bluetail Skira and with it came known there was a collection of books in the clan. He began to take care of the books he read many while reorganizing the collection. While he grew comfortable in this clan be began to notice many things about the dragons. From dragons that had jobs to ones who just enjoyed living in this place and in one of the groups of dragons that battled there was a younger Guardian around his age. She seemed very happy whenever she was seen around the clan something uncommon in usually independent Guardians that liked solitude. For a Guardian that found comfort in books this was interesting to him how a dragon like himself could be so open to others. He wanted to learn more about this Guardian. One day he got his chance to meet her she had come back from training with a book under her wing to give to him. As the book was given and some words spoken she asked what the book was about as she was not familiar with the text the book was written in. He looked over the book with care like he would treat any book he came to the conclusion that it was a story book one maybe bit older hatchling may read if they knew the language. He spoke that it was a book of tales to her and soon after noticed she was highly interested. He then asked to her. "Would you like me to read it to you?" It was a common question asked of him by young hatchlings of the clan. To read them a story he had books and enough patience to hopefully teach them something new from the story and so he would. As surprised as she was she agreed she wanted to know about these stories. That day he formally met WildSoul and agreed with her to read to the story to her the next day. After every day's work was done WildSoul would visit him to hear about the book it went on for a few weeks before the book was over. And then a new book started and another when that was finished and another and so on. WildSoul was always ready to hear of the next adventurous tale that was written out. At some point she had started sitting next to him attempting to read along if the book was in a different writing while he spoke. He grew used to reading for her. One day she brought a book and sat in front of him and said "Today I read to you." As she opened the book. It looked old and well read he thought it must of been from its previous owner and before he could ask if she wanted some help. She began to speak the story word by word almost if memorized, she knew this story well, it surprised him a bit. But he listened intently it was not everyday he would hear someone else read to him and he quite enjoyed it. Once the story was done she closed her book wished him a good evening of rest and set back to her den with her book. He watched as she left for her den and could not seem to get his mind off her. Much book organizing happened that night while he thought. Eventually he picked out another book he thought she would like to hear about for the next day and fell asleep. When he woke up it was late afternoon something uncommon for him but once he realized their was a commotion outside he got the scare of his life. WildSoul was hurt badly from battling in the woods and was taken back to the clan as quickly as the others could. Dragons where trying to use the extent of their knowledge to dress the wound but it was far deeper then a typical scratch it would only continue to bleed. Thunderwave ran over knocking a few dragons out of the way to get to her. Dragons of the clan watched this dragon who found solitude in books become highly distressed while his friend was hurt. He pulled out the book that was on his side even young hatchlings that where read to by the Guardian has never seen him read this book in front of others. While a few dragons shouted at him to move so they could help he began to read in a booming voice it caused many to fall silent and watch this was not the usual voice of this dragon. As he continued to read as magic started to gather around WildSoul it became more focused on her wound. The magic's color began to change from a purple to a healing green as it healed her wound as the wound closed up he looked if she had woken up. His eyes met her tired purple ones with that he knew she would be fine. As he put his book away at his side and got up she weakly asked for him to stay. As others saw she was going to be fine they began to go back to their tasks of the day. He sat down next to her and waited as she rested to get some strength back so she could walk. Once she was able she stood leaning on him as they walked he was leading her to her den she stopped looking to him and spoke 'I want to hear a story....'. He nodded and began to go to his own den which she walked with him happily. They entered his den of books and she laid down where she usually sat while he would read as he went off to the book he set aside. He shook his head to himself and went to the first book the one she brought to him when they met and brought it back and laid next to her beginning to read. As he read she became tired |
