Lysanthir was born to a family of merchants, and grew up in a rather luxurious life. He was spoiled, and had a bit of a bratty attitude in his younger years. Learning the trade mellowed him out a tad though, and he became invested in providing products to those in need over the idea of making large profits. In his young adult life, he made many efforts to donate to charity, and even began his own small movement dedicated to feeding dragons who were unable to hunt for themselves. It was his philanthropy, not his profit margins, that earned him a place among the members of an elite guild of merchants.

Unfortunately, no good deed goes unpunished. Lysanthir's efforts to bring more ethical practices to the guild stepped on the wrong toes, and he found himself the victim of vicious corporate sabotage. In one massive act of arson, he lost nearly everything that he had to his name. He attempted to rebuild several times, but each try resulted in him being stricken down harder and harder. In his last attempt to restore his business, he was physically attacked. It occurred between cities, on a road not frequently traveled, and he was left nearly dead and without any form of help.

Barely able to summon his strength, Lysanthir found a sheltered alcove to curl up in and rest. It was several days before he could even move again, and even then it was all he could do to turn over. He would have died a slow death of dehydration if not for one thing.

The twins, Arcade and Nukashine, had been living in that small alcove for a few weeks. They were only hatchling Wildclaws, alone and frightened after their parents had vanished without explanation one night. Lysanthir had frightened them at first, but they quickly latched onto the presence of another adult out of desperation. They managed to bring him water and small bits of food to keep him alive, and curled up with him at night like he was actually their father.

When Lysanthir was able to move again, it was with a heavy heart he realized he could not return home. At least, not while his past was so violently haunting him. And now he had two small hatchlings depending on him... He would at least need to do something with them before trying to face the people who attempted to kill him. After a few days of travel, sticking to the forests and avoiding the roads, he encountered Kagan while she was gathering herbs. She insisted that Lysanthir, and the twins, return to the cave she shared with her mate. Lysanthir was in no state to refuse.

He spent several weeks under Kagan's expert care, enjoying her and Ralabast's company. The twins were clearly happy to be there as well, spending their days fetching "treasures" for the grownups taking care of them. If this is the life that he'll be living for now... Well, Lysanthir can't exactly complain.

Lysanthir prefers to spend his time either tending to the clan's hoard or improving relations with other clans in the area. Fighting isn't something he enjoys, or that he's particularly good at. He's more likely to offer the clothes off his back to someone trying to mug him than he is to attack them. He walks with a noticeable and permanent limp in his back left leg, and has very bad spells of stiffness in his joints when it rains.

His familiar is an old blooming strangler called Ngadoshi; a loyal and mild-mannered companion that enjoys visiting other clans with Lysanthir.

More recently, Lysanthir has specifically grown very close with a new dragon to join the clan named Amadeus. He hadn’t really meant for it to happen, but it was just so comfortable and easy for them to spend time together. Lysanthir is a quiet soul, and Amadeus enjoys filling the gentle silence between them with music and gentle singing. Lysanthir one day called him “little songbird” in a gently teasing way, but the affectionate nickname has stuck between them. They’ll sometimes travel together when Lysanthir has ambassadorial duties to attend to, as it’s become more difficult for Lysanthir to go for such long periods of melancholy without him by his side.

It doesn’t take long for Lysanthir to puzzle out what his feelings for Amadeus are, but he’s extremely hesitant to confess them. He isn’t sure if Amadeus feels the same, and worries that bringing up his own feelings would ruin the close friendship that they have. So he exists now in a longing sort of limbo, always close to the object of his affection, but never quite close enough. Maybe one day he’ll be strong enough... Maybe.
