Zeal has always felt like his heart is far distant from his home. There's something about the world, a curious disconnect that he can't quite reconcile. It's as if there has always been a divide between what is and what should be, and he's fought to understand it ever since he washed up on the shores of Oakheart with his head in the clouds. Oakheart's residents like to say that he would belong there if he wanted to; his gentle charm and soft words are right at home in the Gladekeeper's warm lands. The established members of the clan admire his patience and endless good fortune, while the younger dragons flock to his side at night, when he can be found lying on his back looking up at the stars. They ask him the names of all the constellations one by one, and ooh and ah at the legends he tells them about the stars and their names. It's these stories that make him feel more at home than anything, the myths about dragons swimming through the stars, drifting through galaxies, watching the universe turn by. How serene that life must be, how ideal. He dreams of it, even when he isn't giving astronomy lessons to curious hatchlings. It drives him out to sea in a little boat now and again, where the sky is free of any light but the stars, and the swell of the ocean rocks him to sleep. Out there, Zeal can almost pretend he is floating through space, unattached,at peace. Home at last, even. It's a wonderful dream.
