He put it off as long as he could, but Chrysatos has been with the clan too long to avoid being called an Elder. It hasn't dampened his wandering spirit any, for all that--he still ventures off into the brush, scavenging and digging and bringing home trinkets and chests and the occasional abandoned egg just as much as ever. It's possible he takes off even more now, to avoid being asked important questions about supplies and clan rules and arbitrating the latest dispute between Mardi and Hovette. He doesn't have much to say to the younger dragons, a little awkward, not quite sure what there is to say. He is very, very sure to avoid Sn0wman.

It is true, though, that nobody knows the lay of the land directly around this clan's lair like Chrysaetos does. There is no shift of weather, of territory, of neighboring clan geography, that escapes him. That's made him invaluable for years. That's worth his weight in gold.
