Something didn't feel quite right to Ptah. It was hard to place his claw on but it was setting the nocturne more than just a little on edge. He paced the opening of the lair back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, until he'd nearly worn a proper ditch into the floor of the cave's mouth."Will you please go to sleep?" one of the gravid females groaned from further in. "Some of us have things to do in the morning."
"And there's a threat now," he snapped in return. Was he really the only one who sensed it? Surely his fellows weren't so ignorant of the oppressive...something in the air? Maybe they were since no one seemed to come to his defense. He could leave and try to scout out some threat but what if that's what the threat was waiting for? He let out an aggravated snarl digging his claws into the stone.
Sethos, with a heavy sigh, heaved himself up from where he'd been quite happily resting to go over to Ptah to try and figure out what exactly was going on.
"What's got your scales in a bunch?" he asked groggily.
"Can't you feel it? Something's not right and everyone seems all too content to just laze about!"
Was he really the last one with any brains left to rattle in his skull?
Sethos couldn't feel anything other than irritation from the rest of the den's residents and he knew that the lack of others feeling whatever in the name of the Lightbringer Ptah was feeling was fueling the Nocturne's anxiety. It would be far easier to just try and coax out what was wrong and then try and talk him down from there.
"What do you mean by 'not right'?" he asked.
"Just...not right. The air is heavy and I can almost feel the shadows creeping up." It didn't matter that his kind in particular had been created by shadow in order to spy on the light. He was born under the Lightbringer and the Lightbringer had been good to him.
Ah one of those times. "Just breathe for me. In two three four, out two three four."
Ptah rolled his eyes but followed instructions anyway. In two three four, out two three four,
in two three four, out two three four. It took several moments but the oppressive feeling that had threatened to engulf him before began to loosen its grip on him until it slipped away entirely. No danger at all then, other than the imaginings of his own mind.
"Better?"
"Better," Ptah replied nodding his head. "Sorry."
"You wanted to keep us safe and thought you'd found a threat. Seems pretty reasonable to me."
Sethos said with a shrug.
Ptah nodded wordlessly, saying anything else would be pointless and Sethos already knew how much having someone who'd listen meant to him.
