______ If you asked Lanea a few years ago if she thought she’d ever be the proud mother to a large clan, she would’ve laughed. But now the tides truly have changed. While she has hatchlings of her own, many of them have left to serve various deities, leaving her...well not alone. She has her best friend (a tundra named Helio who she founded Lightfall with), and she has her mate: Cascade. Her children, oh well that’s a more nebulous word. Of course there are the children that come from her, that she had blood lineage with. Two of those came from Heilo, but once she met Cascade their romantic relationship dropped off. Now she’s extremely happy in her relationship with Cascade. But then there are the other hatchlings. Those that are hers by right of being in her clan. Those that she looks after. Lanea runs her clan a very specific way, while having set mates is approved and appreciated, raising the hatchlings is the clan’s duty as a whole. And this is how Lanea finds herself constantly in the hatchling den. A cascade (haha) of violet petals almost constantly falling over her (a charm given to her by one of her first raised hatchlings, for Lanea’s naming of the hatchling Violet), even as she flutters around looking at the hatchlings. It’s the larger hatchlings that give her the most trouble. Truly, for the tiniest species of dragon, Lanea has her work cut out for her in the Lightfall clan. But somehow, she manages. Manages to drag one of the Spirals away from their hatchmate when play fighting got too rough. Manages to push her tiny body in between two arguing Imperials as their horns class. It is a wonder that her body isn’t more bloody. Though, there’s also a reason behind that. The pearly apparel, her necklace, bracelets, and bangles keep her safe. They had been gifted to her by a triplet set of Guardians who all had an affinity for metalworking. Gently looping the metals around her as they told her (picking up and interrupting where their other triplets had left off) about the boons these pieces would gift her. The wing bangles would make her fly faster, making it easier for her to catch up with feuding hatchlings. The bracelets would make her stronger, easing the load of carrying heavier hatchlings. The necklace would make her invulnerable, having her no longer worry about getting injured when caring for her charges. By now they had all left, one to a fire clan (a bloody curse following them as they ran), another to serve the Lightweaver (beautiful golden armor they handmade adorning them), and the last to another Light clan (following their new Charge). But their gifts remained, and so did Lanea. So she tells the newest hatchlings of the story of how one fae was blessed thrice by Guardians. Only the oldest of the clan know about the Animus triplets, and their mark on the founder. But that was enough, as long as more hatchlings continued to be there to hear her stories.

______ Cascade was always there for her, and she loved him for that. Her much larger mate helped her run the parts of the clan she was too small to. Such as taking control of building materials. He built their home in the clan, slamming down trees to use their trunks as points to drape beaded together feather curtains over. Giving them a tent-like home, he fetched her magical sap from the Starfall Isles (his original home). The trip is rather long, but he loves her enough to make it. Coming back with satchels stuffed to the brim with carefully scooped out globs of tree sap for her to add onto her nest of twigs, feathers, and sap. Only the best for his mate. Though, she could also handle a lot more than her diminutive size would let on. While physical stuff was best left to Helio (her best friend and co-founder) or Cascade (a lovely pearlcatcher who’s her mate), Lanea deals with the interpersonal aspect of the clan. Handling relationship arguments, dealing with people’s fears, even occasionally accompanying newer dragons to their battling venues. She assuaged people's’ fears, of the Lightweaver, of the Beastclans, of the Shade. Through her travels accompanying her dragons, Lanea had began to collect certain herbs here and there. Things to allow people to sleep easier, to assuage stomach aches or headaches or any other kind of ache. After a particularly nasty bout of disease (rumored to have been brought by a plague dragon coming in), she had taken to carrying a Poisonous Herb Basket around with her (yet another gift from a former hatchling). This hatchling was the plague mirror who had arrived. Telling her that the plague running amok on the clan was purely a coincidence, something that they had no part of. Believing the mirror, Lanea slung the basket around her waist and moved to crush up petals and leaves to make a mixture to pour down the sick dragons throats. Almost in the next week, the sickness cleared up. The mirror stuck around for an extra month after that, allowing the clan to realize that they were not the reason for the plague afflicting them. But, at the end of the month, the mirror (named Zayne) said their dues to Lanea before taking his leave. The leaving hurt Lanea, but she treasured the herb basket for ever after, almost always leaving it on. But there was things to be done, things that couldn’t be put aside for heartbreak. And so, Lanea threw herself into running the Lightfall clan with renewed vigor, wanting to make this a clan worthy of surviving. || Currently, the sun still shines, the rain still falls, the petals charmed for her keep flowing around her in a constant soft breeze. Everything in the clan is fine, everything is safe, and Lanea will do anything to keep it that way.
