Biography
Oberon was a bit of a late hatch. So late in fact that his egg was labeled as a dud, the poor dragon inside seemingly too weak to make it, it's life ending before it could even hatch. Now most eggs like this would be simply discarded, with only some getting any form of funeral. For those with less empathetic caretakers however, they can make quite the profit. Though a bit dark, their is a market for dragon eggs, as their are dragons that use them for all sorts of things, especially magic. Oberon was one of these unlucky few, his egg sold off as a magic material.
What was lucky was that the kind sorceress Alphecca was the one who bought him. Thinking it was an empty egg, Alphecca used it to practice a spell that would turn the egg into a geode containing a powerful type of magic crystal. Upon cracking it open, she was shocked to find not the crystals, but a small spiral hatchling. Taking the young dragon to Rafael, he didn't find anything wrong with him, relieving Alphecca of her worries that she hurt the poor thing. Figuring the hatchling had nowhere else to go, she let him live in her study, and to her surprise he seemed to attract fairies. Thus she named him Oberon.
As Oberon grew it became apparent that he was a bit odd. He was unable to speak and didn't show many emotions, though he did always wear a small smile. Eventually, the scales on his belly began to fall off or chip away. Regardless of Rafael's efforts, nothing seemed to stop Oberon's belly from eroding. Eventually it cracked fully open, revealing the very crystals Alphecca had been trying to create. Despite any concern it may have caused, this didn't seem to affect Oberon and he was the same as always, but with the added bonus of being able to produce such powerful crystals.
