A lost and insecure hatchling who grew into a fierce authority. She built the community she had always longed for, with herself at the center so that she would never be lonely. She fought tooth and claw to be noticed and loved -- even if that love was derived from fear. Yet what she built could not be sustained. When love eventually triumphed over fear, Larkspur was gradually relegated to the sidelines... alone among the others she'd brought together and invested in to begin with. Larkspur and Orestes had many a nest, but they were hardly a model couple. Still, they had a comfortable familiarity despite often butting heads. Larkspur was deeply devoted to the Lightweaver and any hatchlings the two had were sent to the deity's service. Being fully willing to give up her own children, she expected equal tithes from all nesting members of the clan in thanks for the opportunities that the Lightweaver had given them. When the clan lived in Light territory, she served as Master of Divine Affairs as part of the Leadership Circle, along with Kirukan (former Master of Borders) and Thacian (former Master of Resources). The clan's members are from various flights and few bear allegiance to Light over any other. When the clan moved to Arcane territory, they began to honor their new benefactor, the Arcanist. A distraught Larkspur withdrew from the Leadership Circle and grew bitter and misanthropic, as the others ceased to consult her. She all but lost her mind. Eventually she was overthrown and the clan, as they say, came under new management -- leaving Larkspur a social pariah. Larkspur's luck took a turn for the stranger when she was called by Ruriske to join the Blood Sojourn. Why Ruriske wants to rehabilitate her reputation after all these years is anyone's guess. She is not an easy ally to make or to keep. |
