Gaia is a calm, thoughtful coatl. He is always offering advice and help to those who need it, no matter how difficult a situation they may be in. Despite his collected demeanor, he has no problem joking around or getting himself into danger. He is the leader of the Garden's 'protectors', as well as being their eldest brother.
Gaia and his brothers Demeter, Grape, and Ivy were for-hire mercenaries paid by a wealthy Nature clan to retrieve a massive Spiral emperor deep within the Viridian Labyrinth. Gaia, leading the expedition, helped lure the creature away and managed to collect their reward. However, while staying the night in the clan for a celebratory feast, the mercenaries learned the clan intended to use the emperor as a weapon against their neighbors. Horrified, Gaia and the others stole the creature in the dead of night. Together they escaped the Labyrinth with the undead abomination in tow. Thankfully, Icelus found them and led them to Eris's clan, where the Spiral was contained and the coatls could relax.

[Interestingly, Demeter's father is from the same clan as Grape and Ivy!]
