Biography
58961953
Areion, founder of the Mirrorlight Complex. His roots were first planted in the Gladekeeper's territory, but not long after meeting Shahvee, he chose to move to the cold tundras of ice. His only thought was of survival, which made ice an odd choice, but the truth was even then he had little to live for, and no real compunction about dragging Shahvee, his then-only friend, down into the ice with him.
But perhaps by his inborn tenacity he survived and amassed a following. Their need for direction honed his senses into a sharp point.
His clan continued to grow, and as it grew, with it grew their thirst for knowledge.
Naturally of course, due to the location, a large number of these dragons were aligned with the Icewarden. Many were interested in the legendary work of the Gaolers. But rather than contain, they wanted to see the truth. They wanted to make the truth happen by their own hands, their own claws. They were many, and passionate, and they drove forward heedless into discovery.
A year later, they drug the now-bloated clan to the golden, grassy fields of the Lightbringer's territory, only halting once they had found suitable accommodations in an old, alabaster ruin near the Mirrorlight Prominade that they then repaired to the best of their ability.
Then the study began. Dragons of the Light were drawn in. And so the clan grew again in size and scope, beyond what Areion had imagined. They weren't well-renowned— they were too secretive to have a reputation, except about their evasiveness. But those who knew of them had reason to, and no longer were they nameless. They were now known as the Mirrorlight Complex.
And then it all felt apart.
There was no warning.
-
Were they dead? Or were they caught somewhere in between? Thin slices of reality, sandwiched together like slides of microfiche. And now there were punctures to pass through, reaching out from our world into the dizzying infinity of creation.
There was nothing they needed to know now.
There was no need for them to be pitied.
-
Areion - Born to the Nature flight, Areion survived on his own from a young age. He has no known parents and no known clan. It was long after he reached adulthood that he met Shahvee.
Phenol - Once thought to be a natural mutation, Phenol came to the Mirrorlight Complex on the promise of payment in exchange for submitting themselves to a battery of experiments. It was soon discovered that Phenol's nonstandard traits weren't natural, but rather some other clan's dirty little secret. They chose to stay in order to maintain the façade, and to continue to investigate their own origins.
Celestis - Head Archivist.
Vesuvius - A natural mutation. At a young age, he was put in the position of leadership due to his clan uplifting him as a false idol. He preferred the distant, scientific approach of the Mirrorlight Complex, and even after his payment chose to stay. What's become of his former clan is unknown.
Esther - Head of the Biological Research Division.
Lux - Head of the Optronics Department. After being abandoned by his clan as an omen of ill luck due to his natural elemental mutation, he strove to find a way to tune both elemental intensity and alignment in living organisms, such as dragons, through the use of light.
Carbon - Head of the Cybertronics Department.
Halo - Head of the Elemental Effects Research Division, Halo made the choice to perform many of their experiments on themself before subjecting other dragons to the effects, although as time wore on they became more and more lax about this rule, since it would have been impossible to keep working had they continued.
