Keiko: Matriarch

Don't ever mistake my silence for ignorance, my calmness for acceptance, or my kindness for weakness.

Keiko is the very picture of a scholarly Light dragon, quiet and collected without a scale out of place. Her calm and unruffled demeanor make her well suited for her role as the lair's matriarch, since she's able to handle any disasters or crises with a cool head, and to help calm others down by example. Even when the situation gets dire, she always seems to know what to do. If she doesn't, then her Light heritage comes into play, since she always knows where to look up a solution. If her clan is in trouble, she's been known to take to her books and tirelessly research long into the night until she's found a solution. She doesn't care to abide by Flight boundaries either. Despite the fact that her Flight has historically not gotten along with them, she doesn't hesitate to ask the aid of a Plague dragon in curing an epidemic, or a Shadow dragon for help in lifting a curse.

However, her true passion, the subject she's devoted her life to studying and understanding, is kindness and selflessness. To best study them, of course, she reasons that she must experience their effects on others firsthand. Because of this, she devotes herself to kind and selfless acts. Whether she's caring for the sick, reading stories for the young hatchlings, or outside gathering the favorite food of someone who's had a bad day, it seems that she fills all her free time with doing kind things for others. This has made her a very popular clan leader, and those she both leads and looks after have nothing but good to say about her. Every dragon in the clan has at least one story of something she did for them, help when they desperately needed it or just something that brightened their day. Although Keiko might protest that she does these things as part of her research, her clan firmly believes that in addition to studying kindness, she is kind.

Sometimes it seems that the only time she's not kind and calm is when those she cares about are threatened. She is deeply protective of her clan and her family, and she will not tolerate anyone or anything that tries to harm them. Although she normally abhors violence and tries to work out a peaceful solution whenever possible, when there's nothing left, she will fight with everything that is in her. She is not a warrior by profession, and most of the clan has barely seen her fight. But those who have all agree that there is nothing more ceaseless and terrifying than the fury of their matriarch when she fights to protect the ones she cares about. She will bring everything she has to bear down on the enemy, and she would gladly make the ultimate sacrifice to keep them safe.
