Biography
He never takes off his elaborate headdress, it's a mystery to all in the clan what his face looks like.

with cap... what to do.[/img]
(parent lore)
His parents knew something was wrong, even in the very moment of Byriden's birth.
when other hatchlings would greet the lightweavers rays with a smile, he would only frown and grimace. When others would play and flutter about with each other in the warm rays, he would be sitting alone in the dark canopy of a tree sullen.
To other flights this may seem normal, after all all hatchlings are born unique, and we should love them no matter what.
This is true... but they knew it wasn't the case for Byriden. It was almost as if he was missing a piece of himself, and something menacing was filling the emptiness. They still cared for him however, and they did not want to cast him away when there was a chance he could be normal.
So they taught him to wear a mask. They told him "Whenever you want to frown, smile. If you feel the need for vengeance, forgive. It is not for other dragons to know your weaknesses for if they do 'you' and to a greater extent 'we' are open to attack"
Little did they know, teaching him to deny his darkness would only help it to grow...

(Main lore)
Even being born in the golden rays of the lightweaver and to highborn parents created by the same deity Byriden never felt as if he belonged. Even his parents noticed it.
He felt a darkness welling up within him and was taught from a young age to always force it back. To cover it better he wore a mask of a gentile and kind dragon. Never appearing anything but good and just, always helping others and generous with his wealth and time.
It was the only rule his parents gave him and their rule was law.
Never show any faults to those who may criticize, and make our lineage appear anything but perfect. We are the creations of the goddess of light, the lightweaver. Never forget, and conduct yourself in this manner always."
But even the strongest defence will eventually be eroded and worn with time.
He took to wandering the woods at night, at first just to relax and calm down a bit.
Byriden loved the fresh cool breeze that would flow through the trees, and looking at the twinkling stars seemed to calm him...for a time.
However he soon found that it wasn't enough.
One night he skipped a banquet, claiming illness, because he wanted to go without dealing with simpering nobles pawing at him for attention. It would be hours of being fake, and he couldn't handle it, not when truly he wanted to claw their throats out to silence them.
He walked for quite a long way, feeling restless because even being there in the forest at night, he still couldn't calm his mind.
Eventually he realized nothing seemed to help turning his unhinged mind upon any prey that was unfortunate enough to be in his path. Anything to feel relief from keeping it all inside. The hate... the darkness that only festered and grew in his heart.

Because of his aloof nature, most dragons feel uneasy around him. The young dragons make up scary stories about him to frighten the hatchlings. The adult dragons respect him because he is wise, but are still wary. Most don't approach for a causal conversation.
