Lore
When the Great Pillar shattered, spreading debris ranging in size from giant slabs to minute dust particles across the globe, most of it was inert, lifeless. However, a few rocks that were scattered far, far out into a sun- and wind-swept desert, maintained some lingering awareness of the diety who had once resided inside them. Uncounted millennia passed and these rocks slowly absorbed the colors of sun, sand, and sky that surrounded them as they dreamed dreams of a beautiful, radiant entity. These dreams and visions filled these sentient rocks and shards with a desire to know and serve Her, the Lightweaver of their dreams. Then, the rocks shifted, the earth quaked, the inferno consumed, the maelstrom churned, the winds changed, and in a blinding flash of light those sentient rocks became Sandshine Tumblers. As they came into existence, they were immediately struck with the desire to create beautiful things out of their surroundings to honor their beloved Lightweaver. Working with purpose, each Sandshine Tumbler sifted through the sand or selected from the surface a sthat surrounded them for weeks. As they worked, a rumbling, musical hum filled the air, this was their communal chant. Each of them entered a deep, meditative state that they have taken to calling "the Sandshine Time" as they worked tirelessly on each beautiful creation. After several weeks without the need for rest, food, or drink, each had produced a smooth, polished, perfect offering to the Lightweaver. These were piled carefully together, and the process was repeated. After many months, a large cairn had been created. At a subtle signal from their matriarch, detectable only to them, their period of work was over. A spontaneous and exuberant festival commenced immediately and continued for days. Each Sandshine Tumber sang, danced, feasted, and played games with rules too complex for outsiders to comprehend. Then, at yet another subtle signal from their matriarch, as one they stopped their revelries and selected a stone, and began tumbling. Thus the cycle has continued to the present day.
As a group, they are gregarious and ebullient while also deeply spiritual and capable of prolonged, deep meditative states. It has been said that there is no such thing as a grumpy Sandshine Tumbler. Noted for their striking color patterns, they took on the look of the sand, sun, and sky that comprise their cherished desert home.
DietThey dine only during their spontaneous festivals. During these times, they enjoy sumptuous feasts. Their diets are unlimited at this time.
BattleThey will not fight, and any dragons approaching them lose any desire to attack them. It's said that they exude some sort of mellowing aura. Even a marauding pack of mirror dragons have been seen to relax, recline, and smile goofily at one another when in the presence of the Sandshine Tumblers.
