Time passed with Janis living on the edge of the clan, giving an occasional nod or wave to clan members. One day she approached Alphonsine and remarked that she had seen Tirao several times as he went to the field where the warriors were trained. Janis remarked that he had looked tired and had a cough that disturbed her. She muttered as she rummaged through her pouch, finally pulling forth a small container which she thrust into Alphonsine's tiny hand. "Have him eat one of these pellets every morning"....more rummaging....another small pot comes forth..."rub this on his chest at night"...rummaging accompanied by muttering and a crystal clear rock is produced...."and put this with him as he sleeps."

She wandered in from who knows where laden with bags and pouches, covered in silks and tassels, glasses perched on her nose and a colony of crimson colored mushrooms growing on one shoulder.

Alphonsine was fascinated by this newcomer and granted her request to camp at the edge of the lair....all the while keeping a close eye on this stranger. Janis spent her days foraging for and gathering plants, rocks, and other materials. Alphonsine watched from a distance as the stranger dried, mixed and sometimes cooked these materials whilst muttering to herself. Sometimes she laughed right out loud. And she sang in the evening. Loudly. "Odd but harmless," Alphonsine concluded.
