Gazania has never wanted anything more than to be a warrior, and for a while Caici considered that appointment for him. He was a diligent guard, and yet something bothered her about his performance. He was a young, strong recruit if a little shy and yet despite his diligence, certain things slipped past him and she was determined to discover why.

The day Caici realized Gazania needed glasses she nearly slapped her forehead in exasperation. Of course! Cara quickly produced a pair for him, and he was fascinated with the process almost more than he was overjoyed by his newly clear vision. Did anyone know she’d never recorded any of her methods? It seemed very risky to him- the information needed to passed on to future generations! He was quietly reassigned from guard duty to the task of bookkeeping and recording, which he attended to fastidiously.

Strangely enough, he was happier recording the clan’s doings and knowledge than he’d been while guarding his new family. He was still a strong warrior, much more effective with his new spectacles, but he found the bookkeeping brought him a sense of peace that had been missing. He smiled to himself, thinking just maybe he’d found a place in his new clan.
