BIOGRAPHY
Aconite is a deeply troubled dragon who has taken it upon herself to make Sornieth a better place… the only way she knows how.
Her parents tried to raise her right. Dedicated to their children and determined to make their lives better than their own had been, Sarin and Soman did their best to direct Aconite towards safety and happiness. Their only mistake was letting her hear the tales of how they had been tortured and experimented on, in the hopes that she would see how bad life could be and strive to make her own better. In Aconite’s eyes, her parents’ juvenile experiences shed a light on the nature of dragons in Sornieth. She felt infuriated by such injustice. And to add to the flame, from birth she shared her mother’s mutation; a hard, glass-like abdomen filled with viscous fluid with similar properties to her father’s toxic saliva. Sarin and Soman tried to downplay the significance of the abnormality, but as she grew, Aconite would discover just how strange and dangerous it truly was. It seemed a blessing when she went into monkhood. She had been such an angry, stubborn child; perhaps a life of peace and kindness and quiet worship of the deities would temper her fiery personality. She settled in well and put her parents at ease, and for a time, her crimes went unknown. The time would eventually come when Sarin and Soman discovered the truth; Aconite chose to reveal it to them personally on a visit back home. In a soft, monotone voice, she revealed that she used her monkhood as an alibi against the assassinations she performed under the cover of night, using the very poison bubbling in her gut. She killed those she deemed bad in some way; anything from swindlers to slavers, thieves to killers like herself. As her mother wept into her father’s arms, Aconite told them that she did not see herself as above those she killed. She was a sinner as high as the rest, and someday, someone more righteous would surely strike her down. Until then, she would take down the evils of the world, saving those she deemed good enough to live. Only time will tell how long she can get away with it. |
