BACKGROUND

words PERSONALITY Aesculus is, quite generally, just a bit of an odd mess. He practically broadcasts how off he is to anyone who comes near, but not because he means to. Despite the bone mask and antlers and the rows of too-sharp teeth, he doesn't display any actual threatening behavior, neither threats nor pointed silence; in place he has his lilting, bizarrely friendly way of speaking, a perpetual smile, and an apparently endless well of patience. He never loses his temper, never gets frustrated. He handles everything without so much as a blink, with a truly unsettling level of apathy, and dragons certainly end up fooled by it -- that and the way his default setting for interactions is either flirting, incredibly bad jokes, or vaguely sarcastic comments. He's terrifying in, arguably, a worse way -- the kind of way where he genuinely doesn't care if you're bleeding out in front of him or not. His attitude towards people is identical whether they're friends or foes, at least until there's any kind of danger, to the point where it's genuinely difficult to tell if he cares about someone or not. He rarely shows affection and when he does it's painfully stilted; if he's actually being smooth about it then that's a tell that it's just an act. He projects self-confidence and a smooth, perfect mask despite his barely-maintained control on his tenuous mental state and the fact that he hates himself but, lately, it's been getting at least a little better. |
