The Prophet
"I've seen things like no other."
The visions started when Luthien was a mere hatchling.
In her former clan, prophets weren't uncommon. Her clan had a few other prophets who tried to help the young Wildclaw when her first vision took over. Her gift, however, wasn't made to be controlled. Many elixirs were used in an attempt to soothe her mind, but nothing would work. It took a few nights before her vision, and her screaming, finally came to a shuddering end.
None could make out the jumbled rambling that followed the end of her vision. Luthien was put in the healers' tent to rest, but the event had already taken its toll on her. The once-energetic hatchling was now quiet and withdrawn from others. The contents of her first vision- and many of the others that would follow- remained a mystery. She kept a journal of what she saw, but everything she wrote was in a language that was long dead.
Luthien was made to leave her birth clan soon after she snapped. During one of her visions, she became uncharacteristically violent. Her home was found trashed, and many of her writings were torn to shreds. She found standing in the middle of the chaos, her mind a ravaged mess from the vision. The clan leaders banished her afterwards before she could do worse.
Alone and disheartened, Luthien relied on her gift to take her where she needed to be. After many months, she arrived to the Heart of Decay, wearied from both her travels and her visions. She collapsed on the dwelling of the clan's leader, Clarity. She was an odd sight to the Fae, but Clarity brought her to the healer and left her to be re-situated into her new home.
Visions continued to torment her here, forcing her to stay lost in thought in order to understand what she was seeing. She stayed mute for the first year she stayed in the clan, only communicating in vague gestures as she continuously wrote in her journal. Her first words, quiet from fatigue, hushed all who heard.
I am Luthien, the prophet. I do not know why I am here. I do not know my purpose. All I know is the future, and this makes me afraid.
