Balin

"Hurry not, for to stand at the river's edge is to see the bodies of your enemy appear on the currents."

Patient and wise, Balin is the prime advisor any leader would want on their counsel, making little effort to insert himself into conflicts or inflame the passions of discord between parties meant to be talking of peace. As learned as any other Imperial, Balin finds calm between the pages of books or lengthy scrolls, words and knowledge soothing to any amount of temper he might feel.

This doesn't mean he flinches away from violence though. Being average sized among his species, Balin uses wit and strength together to overcome even the toughest of opponents when forced to act when threatened. The veil he wears and the symbol of his god are evident signs of his prowess with magic, and perhaps having the Sight, able to foresee certain events before they happen.

Or it's just a very clever ploy to make others think he's capable of doing so, making it harder for other dragons to question if he's being honest about his abilities. That or he's just one very crafty scholar who finds that even the smallest lie will get others to accept bigger truths. The kind they'd rather deny for the rest of their lives but swallow like a bitter **** when someone much wiser proclaims they must. No matter the method, so long as peace and order are attained, we're sure Balin doens't mind having a shaky reputation.

After all, all that puffing doesn't mean a thing if you're ousted or worse. War doesn't help anyone.
