Kreuzeck

Kreuzeck was formed from the roots of a mighty oak tree that had grown at the very heart of the largest forest. The plant and animal life there needed a protector, and the trees provided a great dragon. She named herself Kreuzeck, and became a mother figure to all who called the forest their home. She is there to tend to mother and newborns, and her breath encourages plants to grow tall and strong. Kreuzeck is also there to comfort the dying, and make sure that no one passes away alone.

Despite this, for hundreds of years, alone is how she found herself. She could call by name every tree, every rock, every fox and mouse and deer, but she had no one to share her life with. No one to truly know her.

Until she met Kamerad. The princely Skydancer came to her woods different from any other dragon. He was not a traveler passing through, or seeking a home among the trees. He was a dragon who came only to love and admire the forest he had previously only seen from afar. Kreuzeck had never seen another dragon who held such devotion to the forest before, but did not seek to change it or stay and make a home for himself here. He came only to help, and asked for nothing in return.

Kreuzeck watched him from afar in her forest for seven days, and on the morning of the eighth she stepped from her hidden places into the sunlight. Kamerad laid eyes upon her, and was instantly smitten. The two dragons spend their days together now, tending to the forest and all on inhabit it, and protecting the forest from those who would destroy it.
