Biography
Roselle
? ? ?
- x -
Where ever she came from, her clan didn't care. Or they did care, but in the way that they bullied her for her eyes. Ugly, brown eyes. Not like her brother and sisters pretty green eyes, or the soft brown of the Earth elders eyes. Some weird color unlike any other they had seen.
They put her to work, and not unlike Cinderella she was put to work instead of treated as a family member. She admired Cinderella, somedays imagining she would be whisked away by a prince. But she had no such thing.
She had trees. They were always so lovely, at the end of the day, to sit beside and rest around with the birds above chirping and settling down for sleep, the squirrels squabbling over nuts. She loved to be outdoors, away from her work and doing her own things. Her favorite thing to do was identify the trees or the stray leaves she found on walks. She'd do it every evening until her horrid family called for her to come home.
One day, a caravan came to town, and her dreams finally came true. Huge imperials hauled special saplings of golden trees, which seemed to shimmer in the light. They were from a clan in the Light Flight, here to sell there wears. But somehow, even the imperials themselves looked like trees, with leaves growing as hair, and moss across their bellies. The other dragons who traveled alongside them spoke of their home when they came to rest in the tavern, and it sounded amazing. How Rowan wanted to visit it someday.
The tree dragons had an eye on her the entire time, either noticing her battered state or her ugly eyes, she wasn't sure. But they approached her that evening as she sat among the trees, striking up a conversation about the trees. It was obvious she loved them, able to identify all the trees of her home. That was when she was offered a job.
'Come home with us, young one, and help us tend the trees we buy from your home.' They said to her, bringing her along to their caravan where dragons sorted out saplings into their belongings. It was immediately obvious to her that 'those are poisonous!' and handling them was a mistake without gloves on. She helped them load the poisonous trees, that is after getting Aspen and Avalon's okay for the poisonous trees.
She found out they used the poisons to create potions and remedies for maladies of all sorts. And that was just the push she needed to join the Runelight Hallow's team of trees.
