Biography

What is Dominance?
aka: A quick overview of what Dominance is!
Quote:
"The realm is embroiled in a perpetual conflict called Dominance."

Dominance is a battle between flights to see which flight can gain the most points by exalting dragons! Each battle lasts for a week; specifically from Sunday, 00:30FRT to Saturday, 23:45FRT. Flights that place within top three will be rewarded will special bonuses the following week, like discounts, treasure, and gathering turns!

Flight Rising players have adapted this system to their own terms; this is also known as Dom Culture! Each flight would have representatives that may choose to claim a certain week, after discussion and on behalf of their flight. They'll have two options: to push for Profit, where members of the flight exalt dragons and host events to obtain as much treasure and gems as possible; or to push for Conquest, where members decidedly put up a challenge, often against another flight, to take and claim first place for themselves during that week.

Because Dom Culture is so prevalent, and makes Dominance so unique, Dom Culture notes will be added to each section if there's something to talk about there! Hopefully, this allows you, as the reader, to understand Dominance much more comprehensibly in the grand scheme of things, and maybe experience indirectly how Dominance is and works in truth.

How does Dominance work?
aka: What actually happens in Dominance?

To win, players can exalt dragons (this includes hatchlings!) to account for their flight's Dominance for that particular week. While the key idea is to exalt as many dragons as possible, it also helps to level up each dragon to accumulate points per dragon when exalting! This is especially useful during conquests, where cheaper dragons are often in short supply, and more expensive dragons often lead to breaking the bank. In profit pushes, a levelled dragon rewards the player with more treasure (and sometimes gems!), and is a great way to make money in itself.
Quote:
Dom Culture: With each flight's push, players will create new activities for other players to participate in! This often includes raffles, lotteries, foddart (art/music/lore for fodder) and games! There is also a Dominance Watch thread for players to discuss the ongoing battle and show support for any of their favourite flights during a conquest. This makes for good conversation and socializing!

Additionally, each flight often has a structured system in place to help encourage Dominance, and to improve efficiency, morale and coordination during Conquests. An example of this is the creation of teams, also known as squadrons or guilds! This helps a group of players exercise team-building, and allows them to figure out the best methods that allow them to exalt dragons on a timely, routine basis. There are also in-flight raffles, trainer lending and committees as other examples that help facilitate this atmosphere! More details will be given further into the thread, but for now, we encourage you to read on!

Why should I join Dominance?
aka: What's it in for me? Is that all there really is to Dominance?

If you're still teetering on the fence about participating in Dominance, do not fear! No player is obligated to join a flight's efforts in Dominance; each player may experience Flight Rising however they wish! However, if you are even the teensiest bit interested in our Dominance operations, here are a few other reasons why you should join us!

1. Fun!
In Shadow, we like focus on having fun in everything we do! We aren't tricksters and jesters for nothing; this element helps us encourage a healthy community, a laid back atmosphere and tonnes of events and games for players across Flight Rising to enjoy! When it comes to Conquests, we still strive for first place despite all odds, the thrill of the fight is too exciting to ignore! At the end of the day, Dominance is a competition, a game, and one we enjoy participating in!

2. Community!
No one player can hold the weight of an entire nation on their own; that is why we, as like-minded players, have gathered here in collaboration! With a purpose, some planning and a number of helpful hands, players like you and me can achieve things greater than ourselves, and create entities larger than the sum of our parts! If you're interested in assisting the efforts of our large player base, come join us and see what we can do together!

3. Kinship!
We're not only here to create cool stuff, we're also here to have fun with each other! Starting and creating new bonds with other players not only keeps the game enjoyable, but opens us to new, interesting people! If you're worried about interacting with other players for any reason, have no fear! Shadow players are especially friendly and welcoming, so please do stick around! Having friends you can count on, who can support and motivate you, and have unique connections with helps Dominance to feel lively and friendly!

4. Participation!
Every single contribution helps the overall effort! Do you like hosting activities? Feel free to run a raffle for fodder during Dominance! Are you a creative individual? You can contribute by making graphics for us or other players during pushes! A breeder? We'd love to be your market for fodder in Conquests! Incredibly busy? Hold these dragons; we appreciate all the lair space we can get! Want to pitch in your advice? Let us know what we can do better! Just want to cheer us on? Thank you, and we hope you keep doing so! No matter what it is, each and every bit of help we get matters, and there are lots of ways you can pitch in, so we encourage you to join us today!

5. Profit!
Dominance in general allows players across all flights to earn treasure (and gems), whether it may be from raffles, events, or the Coliseum! Most activity in Dominance, if not all, often generate treasure for players to enjoy! Since profit also only begets more profit, it's a never ending party of spending and making money in Dominance (if you like that sort of thing!), so we encourage all profiteers to join us for the ride!

6. Culture!
Ever wondered why players are so invested in Dominance? That's because of the culture around it! Players make a whole show out of the game, and it's incredible to see what they come up with! Joining the effort not only opens you up to in-flight Dominance culture, but lets you take a good look at how these large-scaled projects and events prop up! You can also participate in Dominance-oriented flight-pride activities, and collect Conquest and raffle badges! There's a lot to experience, and we cordially invite you to do so!

Convinced? Wonderful! We'll look forward to seeing you either in our threads or our next push! Still feeling unsure? It's entirely okay to feel that way, and in fact, thank you for hearing out our pitch! Please feel free to watch out for us, and maybe cheer us on from the sidelines during our pushes! If you're ever feeling up to it, please know that there's always a spot for you!
