Eight-And-a-Half-Tails, or Tails as most of the clan calls him, is a generally well mannered dragon. Tails doesn't have a set job, he just helps out where he can and he's content with doing just that. He tends to be all over the place because of this. Despite being a kitsune like Rune-Tail and Autumn, he actually doesn't speak with them much. "They're always busy and I have my own duties," he'll say. He does think it's nice he's not the only kitsune in the clan and he actually hopes more may come.

Tails is pretty easy to get along with and it well liked by all dragons in the clan. He often likes to use his ghostfire to show off or to entertain little hatchlings. Even the clan's sitter, Ivora, needs a break sometimes and Tails is always quick to jump in. He loves using his tails to tease and hold over the babies, encouraging them to try and catch them.

If the off chance he gets asked about his stumped ninth tail, Tails will appear to be downcast. He knows he's bound to get asked, but it isn't a story he likes to retell. But, he will still tell those who are curious.

Eight-And-a-Half-Tails has a pretty harsh past. He tends to keep quiet about it but if one inquires about his odd name or his one half-tail, he will ask them to sit down for his story. Tails didn't leave Glenreal willingly, a larger monster had been lurking in the outskirts, threatening to get into the city. At this time he had the name Nine-Tails as he still had his ninth tail intact. Nine-Tails and a select few kitsune took it upon themselves to chase off the monster before it decided to break into the city. This proved to be fatal, as each of the Kitsune were slaughtered. Well, each but Nine-Tails.

Nine-Tails had been badly wounded and fell off the ice into the sweeping current. It was a miracle he had survived as long as he did, because Nine-Tails swept to The Reedcleft Ascent. Luckily he was picked up but a clan of friendly spirals who nursed him back to health. When he came to the spirals inquired about his appearance, mainly his eight and a half tails, and Nine-Tails was immensely confused. It was then he came to the realization that his ninth tail was halved, possibly due to the monster. NIne-Tails thanked the spirals for their kindness and set off.

The kitsune spent quite a while lamenting over everything. He wasn't sure what to do or where to go, but he felt that he didn't belong here. He felt he had been a disgrace, a horrible kitsune for dragging his friends to their wrongful death. He didn't deserve the name Nine-Tails, and decided he would be Eight-And-a-Half-Tails from then on. Just as he decided this, Tails heard voices. He caught a glimpse of a Ridgeback and a fellow kitsune, much to his surprise and relief. He followed them closely, eventually coming to the gates of Clan Celestica.
