Jorali came from a well to do family, almost royalty. He was born with everything a kid could wish for--a roof over his head, food in his belly, and loving parents. But he was still a bit detached from everything. He didn't seem to enjoy much, despite saying that he did. Others chalked it up to him being a monotone Fae, but in reality, he was growing bored of his wealthy upbringing. He wanted something more, he wanted a purpose. He didn't want to be a pretty decoration by his parents' side, and be married off to continue their wealthy line. Once Jorali was old enough, he left his family. Despite him leaving, though, they still supported him, and continued to keep in contact with him. Jorali occasionally replies back. But being young and small, and on his own posed some problems. Many thought he was a lost child, and continuously asked him where his parents were. It annoyed him to no end. He tried wearing scarves to hide his young face, but that made him look even younger. Having some money with him, he had no trouble finding rooms to spend the night at, though sometimes he'd have to fight to get a room, if they didn't believe that he was old enough. While jumping from here to there, and traveling around, he kept his ears perked for anything he found interesting. When he moved into an Empire, he found that the guards and their weapons fascinated him. He managed to find one that didn't find him an 'annoying brat' and told him about the Empire, their Emperor, and what sort of people ran it. He also taught Jorali about the various weapons that the Empire used. Soon after that, Jorali was approached by a female Snapper named Edevtia. The strange Snapper introduced herself as the Commander of the Empire's Imperial Agents. The Imperial Agents were a special task force of the Empire, which specialized in everything from combat to infiltration, to assassination. Apparently Edevtia had heard word that he was curious about joining the Empire. Jorali didn't deny it, and Edevtia invited him to come to the palace the next day. It was then, that he was recruited into the Imperial Agents. He went through several tests to build up his endurance, and trained with various weapons, from swords and staves, to guns and maces. Jorali found that he really liked the sniper rifle. Given his small size, he could easily climb up high and remain out of sight, before taking down his target. During his first mission, Edevtia was pleasantly surprised that Jorali didn't flinch or have a breakdown after killing someone. Jorali chalked it up to having not felt his target's death. Stabbing someone was much different than shooting them from a distance. He found he liked the latter, better. Soon after he joined, he met up with another Imperial Agent; a Tundra by the name of Kofi. At first, Jorali found the Tundra an annoyance. He was much bigger than him, and much more muscular. And popular, too. Kofi seemed to get everyone's attention. Jorali refused to admit that he was jealous of this. They partnered up a few times, and despite their differences, Jorali found himself falling for Kofi and his charms. Aside from his parents, Kofi was the first to make Jorali smile, and even laugh. Soon they requested to go on missions together. Jorali could keep an eye on Kofi from up high, and Kofi could count on Jorali to watch his back for him. They had quite a few successful missions together. And even fell quite in love with one another. However, after one mission, things changed severely... |
The details of the mission they got had been wrong, and they realized it all too late. Exhausted from staking out the place, they were suddenly ambushed with no way of escaping. Kofi had already gotten injured, with a scar over his eye. At the time, Jorali was suffering from a broken leg, during a hasty retreat that had him land bad. Beaten and surrounded, they were at their wits end. Spotting some barrels nearby, Jorali knew he could shoot them, and they could use the explosion as a diversion. ...If they survived. Given that they were both Fire dragons, Jorali took the risk, and shot the barrels. The explosion was catastrophic--it destroyed their enemies, but it destroyed Jorali's sniper rife in his hands, and the chemical burns covered his entire body. He blacked out before he realized that the diversion had been successful. Coming to back at the palace's med bay, Jorali found that he had taken the worst of the damage. And Kofi, aside from the scar over his eye, came out unscathed. The burns scarred the majority of his body. He was ruined--a Fire dragon, done in by burns. They were on his body, his face, his hands...ugly scar tissue covered him all over. He knew he couldn't be with Kofi any longer. Being charismatic, he would eventually move onto someone that wasn't horribly scarred. Once he was released, Jorali ended their relationship. Now, Jorali does his missions alone, and only alone. He had to retrain himself how to use a sniper rifle, with his horribly scarred hands, which he keeps gloved as often as possible. Ashamed by his scarred face, he usually wraps a scarf around himself, hiding his features when he has to be among crowds. He and Kofi are finally on speaking terms, but nothing more than that. Jorali refuses to get close to Kofi again, knowing the Tundra will grow tired of looking at his scarred body. So why set himself up for the inevitable hurt? Jorali keeps telling himself that the flame between them is gone. But some days, it's harder to convince himself. Those days, he hides up on rooftops, and fiddles with the necklace that Kofi gave him--the only gift, and last gift, he got from his former lover. Jorali remains completely loyal to the Empire, and serves it well. He carries out each mission without fail, and without hestiation. Those that meet him might find him cold, and even emotionless. but that's what he's going for. An assassin has no need to get close to anyone. After all, they might end up as his next target. He despises being on the ground for too long, and likes being up high, either on rooftops or on shelves or counters. He truly hates being called 'small' and made fun of for his height. Just because he's small, doesn't mean that he can't send you to the ground, whimpering. After all, he's the perfect height for it... |
