Biography
D R E A M F R O S T |
Many dragons thought Dreamfrost had insomnia. He always tossed and turned, and often didn't sleep at all, lying there in the lair, staring at the sky. The other hatchlings didn't sleep near him; he'd accidentally jab them. Even his parents preferred to leave him to his quiet corner, where he could suffer the nights in peace. What went through Dreamfrost's mind during sleeping hours weren't his worries and excitements; they were others'. Dreamfrost's Clan was large, and everyone dreamed vividly. The dreams flowed through the young hatchling's mind. Dark, light, pastel, neon dreams accompanied with fear, joy, grief, and other emotions, so bright and strong that he couldn't close his eyes. This was his childhood, tormented by the dreams of others that pricked at his consciousness and refused to give him even a moment's rest. Eventually, when he was old enough, he left. Not only was he annoying others, he was also annoying himself. His lack of sleep resulted in a perpetually tired and grumpy persona, and he wanted to sink into the dark oceans of sleep without another's dream forcing him awake. The sunlight was too bright; the oceans were too cold; there were too many pillars to bump into. The forest was his retreat, where no other Clans dared venture because of the dangers and the problems. Dreamfrost made a living there, and experienced proper sleep for the first time in his whole life. As he grew older, he began to take measures to blend into the shadows. The travellers that occasionally passed by would sometimes see his glowing eyes in the dark, and either confront him or run away. It was disturbing the peace, and Dreamfrost needed peace. Even with a whole forest between him and civilization, it was still hard to sleep. The forest scared most of the dreams away, but a brave amount managed to find their way to him, sensing a place where they could be experienced again. Dreamfrost cloaked himself in even darker shadow, and no traveller has been able to see him for many years. The dreams eventually stopped trickling in, when a Dreameater was attracted to all the dreams he had floating around him. He's now a bedtime story told to the younger hatchlings: A dark figure draped in branches and feathers, tortured relentlessly every night, but glowing with the knowledge from the dreams he receives. |
