Lyneth
"When you look at me, who do you see?"

 Lyneth was an actor. She could wear many faces, sing praise in false voices, parade as a dream when deep down she was living a nightmare. Ever since she was a hatchling she had been taught that a pretty face could be one of the most powerful things in Sornieth, and even if the circumstances for such a lesson were less than moral, it was one that stuck to her like tree sap.

“Be a lady--” they would say, “--and they’ll treat you like one. Being anything else, though? Why, dear Lyneth, it’s bad for business.”

Bad for business indeed. Lyneth knew how to worm her way into nearly anyone’s good graces. She knew that most of the time it was stupidly easy. Ever since she became a traveler she had double-crossed many dragons, charming them to hopeless infatuation, only to later pick them clean of everything they owned.

Achlys was no different. He was intelligent, dignified, and much harder to sway than most of Lyneth’s previous victims, but he was not immune. Perhaps he just wanted to believe her intentions were clean. It charmed her, knowing that he revered her so greatly, but it made no difference.

By the end of it all, she would leave him in shambles.
