Johnny is a traveling historian and linguist who lives semi-permanently at the monastery. He is an exceptionally bright young dragon, being proficient in all major languages spoken in Sornieth, including Beastclans. He is especially fascinated by the ways in which culture is affected by language and speech patterns.

In addition to his study of modern dialects, Johnny has a particular passion for ancient tongues - those of the Second Age and those of early dragons. While at the monastery, he is responsible for translating esoteric manuscripts from the library into the vernacular. He is particularly fond of translating historical documents and records of battles, finding that there is much wisdom to be gained from the words and actions of those who have gone before.

When he is abroad, Johnny often serves as interpreter for dragons of noble or royal stature. While this position is very practical at its roots, it also has a diplomatic nature, as Johnny must often soften or rephrase the words of his employers.

Johnny is also quite noted for his looks and his character; he's a handsome dragon with a warm smile and a quick sense of humor. He is deeply empathetic but also logical and level-headed; he feels the emotions of those he loves, and is able to help calm them when they are upset. His warm, caring personality makes him a popular and beloved resident of the monastery; the others generally have very positive opinions of him and feel that the monastery is far too quiet when he is gone.
