The Mercenary Camp was full of Ridgebacks, as one of the largest breeds are the best for dealing with problems, but Zero stood out because of his sense of humor. Despite being a bit dim-witted, with more talent for fighting than thinking, he can be quite witty with his quips and jokes. He enjoys getting a rise out of other dragons but sometimes he can push a joke too far and offend. Sometimes he doesn't understand but he always apologizes for such upsets.

Zero is the kind of dragon who would rather avoid his feelings than discuss them. When he gets particularly pressed he will go out looking for a fight to burn himself out. This doesn't exactly paint a picture of a controlled and well-trained mercenary, but it's the only way that Zero really knows how to deal with his problems. One of his recurring issues is his massive crush on Akari, something he can't bring himself to confess and something she is completely oblivious to.

Though he is a Plague Dragon, Zero feels most at home in the Tangled Wood. A Shadow dragon at heart, he did most of the convincing when Azazel and Akari were uncertain on staying with the Shadowblood Clan. They both yielded for the sake of their friend and teammate, wanting him to be happy despite the fact that they would have less work if they settled down.
