Biography
Damballah / Dark Mage / Shadowmancer
As the minutes passed; as it did the shadows he conjured, fleeting in the corners; shapeless, blobs that held no consistency. Yet all the same alive; writhing underneath the command of his gaze, Damballah was talented; of course he could do this. It take didn’t much effort, you know, the shadows were intrinsic and inedible to him; washing over him like a comfortable second skin. He could be at one with the very thing he created or separated, but always.. something connected them; a thin trail of shadows that never dispersed and nor vanished. However, the tension riding in his shoulders were palpable to anyone that glanced at him, the ripple of skin that dipped with a straight arch. There was something strange – the realization slowly spread throughout him; underlined from the very thrum of magic that swirled around his claws and danced along his eyes. No, he was impeccable or he should have been; the old imperial laboured a struggled breath. Exhaustion was always a vague concept, something he understood in mere words, but it’s base, it’s very meaning wasn’t something he experienced, until now. Parting his mouth, he then came to known the answer – he was never exhausted, because his power was infinite that way, unless someone was stealing his power. How he hadn’t known before, but he supposed now it was taking its toll, for how long exactly? “Nyx.” The world was a soft murmur against the walls around him; anger was absent and relative; a sadness was starting to form; a disappointment, he was almost startled he could feel those emotions for the damned dragon.
xXx [Revival of a flower - one talent]
The weight of the spell was carefully pressed against his tongue; a hushed murmur and closed eyes. Words unintelligible to the sharpest listener, other than the sound of his parted lips, one heaved breath and muffled sounds, but did sound quick and rushed; chained together in an understanding that Damballah knew from early childhood. A miniscule bulb was the intended recipient – worn and malnourished, broken, perhaps even beyond repair; hanging down beside its stem, almost like it had to, given up on life itself. It leaves were cracked; discoloured and frail; tilting to the soil, in despair if Damballah gave the plant an emotion. However, the words were working against the process of death; reviving the colours, first startling to life, through a wash of unabashed joy, until eventually, the bulb blossomed into a flower he didn’t recognized and nor cared. He had done what he had intended from the plant. Its beauty and wonder were inconsequential on the mind of someone who was practical; he would have revived the plant all the same, a weed or less favourable flower from the soil. Damballah wasn’t the one to ponder over the intricacies of what it meant to live; he existed, within a parameter of what deemed him so; there wasn’t any point to question how he got there or where to next when this life was finished. A stray thought here and there did come with curiosity, but overturned by a quick flick of the mind to another task; something that was more important in that moment.
