From birth, it was apparent that Galahad was cut from the same cloth as her parents, but unlike her siblings. Born into a Water clan, the Skydancer seemed ruthlessly cold and calculating, treating others extremely rudely. She ordered smaller dragons around to get her food, bring her a toy, or do work assigned to her, among other things. If they defied her or in any way acted out of line, she pinned and snapped at them, threatening to kill them. And her parents just watched, with a cruel, vicious smile on their faces, because their daughter would be just like them!

Eventually, Galahad grew bored of ordering these dragons around and, against the wishes of her parents (who happened to be the clan’s leaders), set out on her own. She resided in a few clans, but would always be promptly be thrown out due to her brash and rude nature and habit of appointing herself as a “leader” of her own right.

She wandered for a while, never staying long in one place. To her, joining a clan became a game. She’d join, just to see how far she could get before she’d be swiftly thrown out. Sometimes, if a clan wasn’t fast enough to remove her, she’d just take off in the middle of the night, bored with them.

During Galahad’s travels, she met up with a Pearlcatcher by the name of Hemal. Hemal behaved similar to how she did- he was snide, cocky, brash. Galahad quickly took a liking to him, and the pair began to travel together. Soon, the games became much more sinister. Galahad and Hemal would arrive to a clan, appearing as worn and weary travelers, and ask the leaders for a place to stay for a bit while they recuperated and gathered their bearings. More often than not, the leaders agreed. Then, as they stayed, they would slowly create chaos amongst the members of the clan. Eventually, they would leave, taking with them a hefty sum of the clan’s belongings and leaving an absolute mess for the unsuspecting leaders to deal with. After a few weeks, word would spread that an entire clan had turned on itself, and that most of the members had been slaughtered.

Galahad and Hemal took great pleasure in causing chaos. They continued their streak of terror for many months before the idea of completely taking over a clan for their own crossed their mind. As the pair journeyed through the Scarred Wasteland, they came across a small, organized clan that simply went by the name of Abhilfe. In Abhilfe, dragons of all walks of life were welcome and offered a sanctuary in the Plaguelands. The clan was run by a kind pair, a Mirror and a Guardian, who oversaw the day-to-day activities.

So, when Galahad and Hemal approached, the two thought nothing out of the ordinary. These were just two weary travelers that were looking for a bit of relief. They were welcomed with open arms and given a cozy, secluded cavern to rest in. It was here that the plan was hatched to overthrow the pair and seize the clan as their own.

Like many clans before it, Abhilfe fell. But its members did not. Rather than be killed outright, many adapted fairly quickly to the savagery that was expected of them once the pair had taken over. The former leaders were quickly overpowered and forced to serve as slaves to Galahad and Hemal. Regular hunts were conducted, with some of the clan’s weakest members used as bait. Year long relationships were broken, replaced with coldness.

Abhilfe was no longer seen as a place for safety. It was a place now of cutthroat dragons, always looking for their next target. And to Galahad, it was beautiful.
