It isn't that Corey had set out on his quest to find his charge with the intention of getting lost, but that seems to be what had happened regardless. He isn't certain, exactly, when the sea's edge had turned into thick forest. When sand had shifted to crunching leaf matter under his feet. When the sun had blotted out of the sky from the foliage above his head. He squeezes between trees too close together to be comfortable. Bark scrapes against his scales in a way that isn't natural. Is it just him, or does it sound like something else is rustling around in the forest as well? He tries to turn, but he can't. The trees are too close together and his body too large to make such a precise movement. As he does his best to maneuver around the trees, something rustles above him. Looking up, there's a brief glimpse of something large and pale falling onto his face. A puff of spores, and then.. nothing. Corey wakes slowly, with a headache the size of the continent and the feeling of his head being too.. small? He aches terribly, and something itches at his scales. Something is wrong, something is off. It takes a moment to realize that he no longer feels the soul deep urge to go hunting for his Charge. Why would he need to find a charge? He needs to find somewhere safe to lay root, to spread his spores. Spores? He doesn't have spores, does he? He's a dragon. He blacks out again at the tug on his subconscious. This time, when he wakes, he's different. He's not where he'd fallen asleep. Instead, he's surrounded in a small pile of fungi and spores. He feels as if he's missing some context and he's terribly confused otherwise. Corey continues his trek. Some instinct has him wanting to find height. To get higher into the air, so his spores can reach further. |

Without a charge due to Coryceps, with his unending craving to continue spreading spores, Corey has decided to remain on the outskirts of the clan. He's dedicated himself to mycology, both to fulfill instincts of the parasite that isn't him, and in hopes of maybe one day discovering a cure. |

Gene Plan Corey is a dragon of duality. While Corey longs and dreams of finding his charge, of being considered a complete dragon by the others of his breed in the clan, he knows that it would be dangerous. Worse than a Guardian without a charge is a Guardian who's charge died on their watch, after all, and he wouldn't curse anyone with the parasitic familiar he'd found himself with.
