There's a lot of beauty and the beast like tales of Imperials finding new purpose or saved by another dragong - taken away from the perilous path of becoming an Emporer. But for all the glamour and romance such tales, this didn't apply to Kalle.
Instead it was the opposite. He wasn't the ikne that needed saving, but a young skydancer he happened upon one day - getting it into her head that there had to be a source to the Imperials power and wanting to sample it herself on an abandoned battlefield. Kalle would have loved to have met Riftmaker under better circumstances.
