Laminariales

This strange creature prefers to live in wet areas, loving to float around the water while stock still, latching itself to the sand of a river or lake and soaking up sunlight. It only requires light. Although seemingly peaceful and the least territorial of its siblings, Laminariales is incredibly dangerous. It creates pockets of deadly poison that are kept in place in the water or the air by magic. Any creature that so much as brushes against one of these bubbles finds themselves dying a slow death moments later.

When the bubbles are spotted, it is a wise idea to be very mindful of them and go the other way. The more bubbles that are seen the closer someone is to approaching Laminariales’ preferred sunbathing spots. There is a cure, however. If one is to find Laminariales soon enough and show they are not a threat, then they will be allowed to chew on its leaves. A sweet liquid will be released that can cure any disease. It is rumored to even cure Shade.

Laminariales is not stuck in the water or even in wet areas. It is more than capable of floating anywhere it pleases and has been seen in even the driest lands, flying as if in water, anchoring itself and waving in the air as if in a current unseen by all. Overall, this is a gentle, curious creature that keeps to itself and prefers to watch from a distance. It has been known to latch onto particular individuals although the requirements are unknown. Maybe it just likes how they look or sound. Maybe it is because they had met before. Or, maybe, Laminariales can sense someone is kind. Who knows?
