Tantris had been born as the rightful and only heir to his father's throne with his mother dying unexpectedly shortly after. With his father never remarrying, he had everything he could've needed and was well protected due to being the sole heir. It was a life of luxury and he was raised to on day lead the Adamas Realm like his father. Everything was perfect until his father brought home a peasant spiral hatchling he'd adopted as a daughter—the blue spiral's multiple eyes had been enough to convince the king she was special. He was neutral on his adopted sibling at first, as he didn't see Eris as a threat. But as they grew older, so did his jealousy. Everyone adored the princess and she wrapped them around her finger, getting whatever she wanted. Tantris couldn't believe they couldn't see through her lies and manipulation... And she always gave him that superior grin when no one was looking to prove she knew exactly what she was doing. Tantris tried not to act on it; he was supposed to be a king one day and couldn't risk putting that in jeopardy. Eris didn't make things easy for him. When his father died, he mourned the loss as any dragon would. Tantris had looked up to the strong guardian after all—even if the decision to take in a peasant had been horrible. The young guardian couldn't help but be excited though as he and Eris listened as the will was read. Finally, he'd get the throne and wouldn't have to put up with her anymore. Except... she was the one made queen. He was stunned and furious, growling that the will had been tampered with. When it was made clear there hadn't been any foul-play, he tried to pretend to accept his father's word. However, that was the end of the grief he felt. Eris was a great actress. She played the part of a sympathetic sibling and humble queen when there were others around. She'd weep and lay it on thick how sorry she was for his—their—loss. Then she'd prattle on with a monologue about how she swore to fulfill her duties as honorably as their father with him at her side... But when no one else was around... That pitied look turned cruel as she'd give him a look of victory and superiority. Tantris swore to expose her for what she was. He made good on his threats and built up a following of dragons who saw him as the true heir. A civil war broke out between the two sides. The fighting was brief but destructive. Eris had much more support thanks to his father's will and Tantris lost his army before being exiled from the only home he'd ever known. In his exile, he took on the mantle of False King. It was one of many that followed him but the one that stuck most. He left, staying with the Empire of Death in Plague for years as he plotted and built his strength back up... biding his time. Tantris eventually met a demi-god named Santus and struck a deal with the pearlcatcher. He would help get inside information on one of the Empire's Shadow flight sub-clans and she would aid in providing him dragons for an army to take back the Adamas Realm. It wasn't easy but after forming the Falgem Bastille on the border of Light and Shadow, he earned his army and made sure she kept her side of the deal. From there, he launched an attack on Eris with his new army. The two sides fought hard but this time he made sure to drive them out. The throne was finally his, as it should've been since the beginning, and he made sure to eliminate all who were loyal to his adopted sister. Unfortunately, Eris herself escaped with the commander of her army... but he wasn't going to slip up. His spies and soldiers were constantly on the lookout. If she showed her face in the Adamas Realm again, he'd destroy her. For now, he's focused on his tyrannical rule. ![]() |
