Veritas, while not exactly well liked, is a crucial member of the clan. He functions as the Light Representative, keeping all light dragons on track and making sure that they’re acting within the clan’s rules. If not, they not only have to answer to their leaders and those they’ve somehow wronged, but they also must answer to him. The fae is intimidating and harsh, but gets his job done all the same, so he can’t be faulted in that respect.

- Hatchling Biography -
As a hatchling, Veritas was quiet and uninvolved with others of his age. It was unclear whether or not it was because he felt ostracized or if it was because he preferred to be alone, seeing as he rarely spoke, but he seemed happy enough so his parents let him be.

- Adolescent Biography -
As Veritas grew, it became clear that the fae had zero interest in any social activities. He preferred to spend his time studying, meditating or doing other things that did not require another’s company.

He began to show promise as a magic user when his magic became stronger and his parents decided to have him train under the colony’s magic council. Veritas had mixed feelings about this, wanting to better his own magic skills, but not wanting to deal with the social aspect of classes and lessons.

In the end, his desire to learn outweighed his desire to be alone and he began his training as soon as the council allowed it.

Veritas ended up finishing his training earlier than expected, his magic power and foresight landing him a spot on the colony’s magic council as the youngest member to ever join.

For awhile, Veritas was happy with his life and achievements, glad to help his colony to the best of his abilities.

- Adult Biography -
It wasn’t till Veritas was a young adult that he began to grow dissatisfied with his standing in the colony. He grew somewhat power hungry, wishing to have more influence than he already did over what the colony should and shouldn’t do. As he craved more power, the council began to notice and eventually, decided that he was becoming a threat. Claiming that his eagerness for power would eventually put the colony in danger, they demoted him.

Bitter at such a humiliating action, Veritas decided it’d be better to leave. Maybe it was best that he stayed on his own for awhile.

The fae wandered as a traveling scholar for some time, in search of rest, shelter, and ways to earn his keep. He was relatively happy, thoughts of power fading from his mind as he began to crave knowledge and logical understanding more than anything else, almost to the point of obsession. He started to spend most of his downtime reading, anything from novels to documents to ancient historical texts, he wasn’t picky.

After departing from another town, he eventually sought to trade some of his old keepsakes for some extra treasure. He loathed to ask for directions, but he had no idea where to head next. Once he found someone to ask and was very kindly given a map and some extra supplies, Veritas headed towards the closest tradeport, which resided on the outermost boundaries of the Lightweaver’s territory. He was there for about a week with no problems, until someone caught sight of his rather shiny items and pretty clothing.

His unknown followers tracked him till he was alone before attacking, robbing him of his valuables and accessories. They then knocked him unconscious and moved him out of the port to cover their tracks.

Which is how Kress found him, just shy of the Tangled Wood’s borders, knocked out cold and in clear need of medical care. She carried him back to the lair where she nursed him back to health. Indebted to them for saving his life and in need of a place to stay, Veritas vowed to earn his place if they would be gracious enough to let him stay and that’s how the clan found their Light representative.

Much like his element, Veritas is a very logical and unbiased soul, if a bit- well, robotic at times and even more monotone than normal for a fae.

He’s known among his fellow representatives as being harsh and cold-hearted. He makes decisions based purely on facts and has little interest in how it affects individuals, his only goal is to help the clan as a whole.

Which has its merits but has also earned him some ire from everyday workers who aren’t high up in the clan, but he doesn’t understand why they don’t see his logic. Due to this, outside of his light dragons, Veritas doesn’t really have any friends.

He’s not really excluded on purpose; it’s not just his work ethic that rubs others the wrong way. He’s generally not the best company to have, as the fae doesn’t really know how to socialize, and tends to tell others to stop bothering him. So it’s not really a lack of trying on the clan’s part.

But Veritas is fine with his disjointed relationship with the other clan members and has no intention of trying to fix it. While Ausha and Dak have talked to him about engaging a little more, not just with his light dragons, it hasn’t really done any good.

Zaiku is really the only one who still makes an effort, but that’s just because he wants to annoy the fae more often than not.

➤ Veritas' tome is named Solis.

➤ While Veritas does not necessarily think of the other representatives as his friends, he is closest to them, due to spending most of his time with them.
