- from the Clan of Severed Lightning -
This hatchling has a huge temper and a fiesty attitude...
" Uh, hi ? My name's Athera...I'm part of the boring San'layn bloodline. Quel'Delar is my nest mate, but anyone with a brain can tell Keleseth isn't our real father. He's a walking corpse, how could he have any children ?? My brother is just a baby, but I'm mature enough to know basic common sense. I guess I'm alright with going to a new clan, as long as it's not filled with more babies...."
- the San'layn -
Her new clan seemed to be alright, so far. The matriarch has been very welcoming, though the patriarch was more indifferent to the newest addition to their clan. That basically summed up what the rest of the clan's reception has been to her- no one's been outright hostile, at least, no one that she's noticed. Well, an aged Skydancer had scrutinized her with narrowed eyes, but as of now that was the least of her problems. After all...
Athera gave a annoyed grunt as a burly Imperial hatchling slammed down on her. Stupid babies and their stupid insistence on playing together with her. Never mind that they're more or less around the same age. Why did she agree to live in this clan with these annoying Imperial brothers in the first place? Oh, right, there wasn't much room back at her old clan. Also, Lana'thel probably wasn't interested in keeping around other female San'layn. ...Better not think about that too much.
Just then, the perfect distraction came in the form of another young Imperial charging at her. She surprised him by charging right back and barreling him over. The two of them tussled before she emerged victorious, only for his two brothers to dog-pile them and creating an even bigger scuffle.
"Why are you so strong?" The red one cried out as she grabbed onto his tail and slammed him into his siblings. Athera ignored him and took the brief pause to catch her breath. Throwing around a large Imperial hatchling, heavy despite being a baby, was fairly taxing. Especially since she hasn't gotten a stable source for blood yet- the small animals the clan currently tends to gather don't have enough blood for her apatite, and trying to feed from the unattached familiars without other dragons noticing was pretty difficult. And she wasn't quite old enough to head into the Coliseum to feed from the creatures there yet, and even if she was, she'd have to catch the attention of one the clan leaders' first hatchlings so that they'd be willing to take her into the Coliseum.
Actually, there was a plus to these wrestling matches. With any luck, one the Coliseum dragons would be impressed with her strength and agree to train her in the fields. But until then, she'd just have to bear with the constant dull ache for blood in the back of her mind and deal with the mammals and reptiles provided to her.
Caught up in her thoughts, Athera was distracted from her musings by the trio of hatchlings pouncing on her.
Oh. And the annoying Imperial babies, too, she guessed.
