Simmariel spent her youth leading a band of mercenaries in the Ashfall Waste, along the southern coast of the main continent. She garnered a fearsome reputation and a large following of dragons all eager for success on the battlefield and the fame and riches it would bring. She is extremely quiet about the events that led to the destruction of the Brenna mercenary company, rarely wishing to speak of the catastrophic defeat she and her dragons suffered due to a betrayal by one of their own. Simmariel eventually found her way north to the Everbloom Gardens and a group of dragons forming a clan of their own.

She began as the sole warrior of what was then Clan Napellus, and over the years the ranks of the Clansguard have grown with each dragon she's recruited. She found a mate in the hatchery guard Hudson, and they had many children - chief among them Zyaxas, the former treasure-keeper. Her mate and progeny fell in the destruction of the clan's nature territory, but her granddaughter survived - Gloaming may resent Simmariel for her overbearing nature, but Simmariel is quite protective of the last of her line. She helped her close friend Aconite to raise Khione into the proud and confident leader the young dragon has become today.


"Simmariel was one of the first dragons to join our clan after its founding, and she is Aconite's oldest friend. She is hotheaded and starts more fights than she stops. She's loud and crude, disrespectful, and resorts to violence over small things. She seeks glory in battle, and is in charge of protecting the clan from threats. She was a mercenary leader once, and carries a deep grudge against Elhokar from this time in her life. She has told me that her Charge is long dead, in a battle long forgotten by everyone but her, and so she was purposeless until she came across the newly formed clan in need of defenders. She has been our Clansguard Captain since the very first day, and though she can be crude, we couldn't be more proud to have Simmariel guarding our borders."

"She played a key role in raising Khione, and has been her teacher in the ways of battle since she was very young. She's one of Khione's closest friends, and is ecstatic that Khione has allowed her to expand our defenses recently. The alliance with and incorporation of the Volmark dragons into the clan has supplied her with many more skilled warriors, so naturally she's quite pleased with her new forces."
