Description: Nala was born to a family of shipwrights, raised on the coast in a port town ravaged by storms too much to grow wealthy, yet they survived, even did well in their trade. The family's daughters grew famous for their craft mastery, each a specialist in her own right, with their father proud as the day they were born when they built their first ship without their mother's hands. Their mother passed on when Nala was young enough to almost remember her, but her elder sisters raised her alongside the fifth daughter, the one who only lived when their mother died. She was the fighter of the family, and learned eagerly wherever she could from old sailors to passing monks, Nala became their protector despite her age. She had dark hair and skin like the rich lumber they built their ships with—just as all her sisters did. She was always tall for her age, strong and lithe, and quick on her feet.
Because they lived on the coast, her strange eyes did not stir the people and because her family was well known, even less was said, only causing her trouble when she was young enough for schooling. She dropped early for fighting too rough, stubborn and different and all the things other children feared when she taught then she would not have their bullying. She lived just fine, and no dragons appeared to steal her away, so her eyes were simply strange, not ominous.
Then she turned seventeen and a dragon did appear, chained to a boat and screaming, some lord's pet to be. He was beautiful, and she knew then she must save him. She did not know saving him would mean losing everything, because when she fought there was fire in her blood and ripped out of her to set the ship ablaze on the ocean, and she escaped unharmed atop the dragon named Arjun. They fought for weeks as they ran from soldiers, but begrudgingly learned to rely on one another, grew strong in their loyalty and their new powers. But they still are learning control and patience especially with one another.
Powers: Much like the firebenders from Avatar: The Last Airbender, she uses fire as an offensive weapon, controlled by breath. However she is also able to be more delicate, her hands able to warm slowly or call up a small ball of fire/take it from a campfire and play with it. It responds almost like liquid to her hands, but primarily she uses it in large blasts from her hands and feet.

She's biracial with plenty of freckles, and elflike ears. She has a smile that often seems to be hiding something, so she rarely smiles to keep out o trouble. She is Scottish-African. Her father is Scottish. If A:TLA/LOK has an equivalent to that, that's what she is.

**Additional Comments:** Her family lives and breathes shipbuilding, with most of her sisters and family nonbenders. She and her eldest sister were the exceptions, eldest had waterbending and she was given earthbending. Her family has strange superstitions about the way each generation only has one waterbender and one earthbender, rarely in the same immediate family. She was taught by an ex-police metalbender that is her father's best friend, so that she can help with shipbuilding more. Her sister and her are on the search for a firebender for a probending team.
