Biography
______________._.___________ | Aralen |
Soft-spoken, gentle, kind
|
Dawn was breaking on the pearlescent walls of the Fletching-Fey palace. The pale violet light picked out highlights on the crystallized bamboo overtaking the northern side of the structure. Dragons were slowly trickling from the front doors to start the day, heads turned toward the sky they had been missing for weeks--so they easily spotted the shimmering guardian circling around the territory, searching for a place to land. The sentry crooned to warn the guards.
Amdiffyn was sleeping fitfully when Vajra tapped on the door of her chambers. The old ridgeback stepped inside when called, and her expression caught the Queen off-guard. She had never seen the guard wear such an... open look. She was obviously troubled. Heart leaping with anxiety, Amdiffyn followed her speedily down the spiraling staircases to the courtyard and out through the doors--one of them was still hanging on its hinges. When the skydancer's eyes fell on the familiar shape of Pastel of Clan Stellon, uneasy relief rushed down her spine. She stepped forward with a formal smile on her face. "Welcome, friend," she said. "What news?" The bulky dragon shifted his shoulders, wings unfolding to reveal a tiny, pale spiral hatchling wound around his spines, asleep. "Your son sends his love," the guard rumbled quietly. "And his younger child." Stunned silence rippled over the coutryard. Amdiffyn stood rooted to the spot, staring at the little dragon. Disturbed by the sudden removal of his cover, the spiral blinked awake. He lifted his head up, staring around without any comprehension. His eyes, as pink as the crystals in the Arcane territory where he had been born, betrayed a gentle curiosity that immediately reminded her of the child's grandfather. Her breath caught in her chest. "W-will it go to the dungeons with Ikelos and Ankarea?" came a quiet, accusatory voice from the crowd that had been gathering. A swish of silks answered from the stairs. "That's for the Council of Suns to decide," came Whisper's voice. She stood with wings unfurled, tail twitching furiously. She swept down the steps and plucked the hatchling from the guardian's back. The spiral made a chirping sound, but settled happily around the tiny pearlcatcher's neck. She stalked back into the palace, beckoning the Queen to follow. |
