Biography
Crucibleswept subspecies
Leaf knew she was different from most faes at a young age when none of her friends could see the speckles among the ash covered ground. She would stare at them endlessly throughout the day instead of learning what was being taught by a teacher, she really wanted to finally get that shine. So one day while the teacher was paying attention to another student, Leaf quickly made a run for it and dove on top of the shine. She patted at the ground, flicking ash all in the air, grabbing the teachers attention as they shouted at her. But she didn’t stop, she had to get it. The teacher flew towards her trying desperately to stop her but it was too late. Leaf held up a very small leaf of gold and almost grinned. The teacher sighed, knowing she would have to have a chat with her parents.
She was a part of a subspecies called the crucibleswept, a subspecies known for their gold gathering abilities; some could even grab gold from air! When the teacher told her parents that her genetics were activating and she was no longer her student they understood and took her back home to their forge. She spent most days with them, learning how to gather gold more effectively and as she grew older she began learning how to make the finest crafts out of the material. She became a good member to the blacksmith community and a well recommended.
Everything stared normal for her: she got out of her bed, brushed her teeth, ate some bugs, said hello to her parents, and set off to gather some gold. As Leaf flew across the emberglow hearth so encountered a giant orange and black guardian that was heavily armoured and intimidating to look at, gathering all types of foods. The fae saw something shine underneath the guardian, and it was a big shine! Leaf quickly flew up to the guardian and without warning, she started digging underneath it. The guardian jumped back in shock, possibly thinking it was being attacked. Leaf continued to dig until a happy squeak escaped and held up the gold nugget. “Wow how did you find that?” The guardian was closer now and very curious of the fae. “It’s in my blood to gather and use gold. Ever heard of a crucibleswept?” “Yes I have! My clan doesn’t have any but we have a lot of knowledge of subspecies.” “Oh! Well it’s good to hear we’re known across the lands but I’ve got to get more gold.” Leaf was about to continue on when she heard a sudden “Wait!” Leaf turned around and faced the guardian once more “May I make a proposal. I will allow you into my clan with all the resources you can think of and your own personal forge IF you create your finest appeal and bring it to me for judgement.” Leaf, while she loves her parents, had been dying to get out of their house and live her own. The deal seemed every favoured for her so she agreed. The guardian named Granith told her the location of her clan and flew off presumably back home. Leaf continued to scavenge around and get enough gold to start her deal, and quickly flew home.
She got to work immediately. She made sure she was making the hardest and delicate thing she could make: the golden seraph set. Her hands moved around the melting gold like silk and she spun the gold into the shape of her body (because she forgot to ask what size Granith was). The gold was moulded over and over, making sure there were no sharp edges where they shouldn’t be and testing the strengths of the spun chains. Glistens of red and orange flowed over the gold, strengthening it. By the time leaf finally decided her work was done it was the next days afternoon. Not bothering to rest she gathered up her creations and flew towards Graniths clan.
Granith seemed surprised when Leaf showed up so late but early with the appeal. “Hello Leaf! I see you’ve made something for me to see. May you please show it fully. Leaf very carefully laid the golden seraph set across the ground and stared at the guardian. “You made all this in two days? Incredible, but how does it stand heat.” Granith made sure her fire breath didn’t hit Leaf and watched to see changes on the set; but nothing happend. “Well my fae friend it looks like you can stay here! I’ll get your forge ready and set up with the basics! The other blacksmiths will be glad to see a fresh face. Go gather anything you need at home, take as many trips and I’ll see you soon!”
Her parents were very happy for her to be moving out into the big world. They helped carry her stuff back to her new homely forge and made sure she was safe before heading back. Now Leaf makes majority of the clans jewellery but will make anything people need with gold. She still goes out looking from time to time but honestly shes set for life with resources. Come buy some of her heart poured golden crafts, you know it’s the finest quality in all Sorinith.
