From a young age, Czekra was forced to bake cakes and create beautiful sugar sculptures to sell & survive, taken advantage of at every turn until she was overcome with spite for every living creature. She took to poisoning the baked goods, leaving the area when the awful deed was done and traveling from realm to realm. She came across a plague clan with a beautiful culture, one she envied. They celebrated the dead rather than mourned, as she did. One of them was an artist, a man who created living masterpieces on skin with nothing but a needle and ink (and a little bit of magic). He welcomed her, offering the warmth of his clan to her, and she took it with warped hands. Though she made many in the clan sick with weak poisons, he protected her from retribution - until he couldn't. She was killed for her crimes. The artist was outraged, and couldn't (wouldn't) believe the accusations, and took her and left the clan behind. He wove his magic under her skin, making her a living representation of his grief, and his magic was so potent that she lived again, more beautiful than he remembered. Though she was full of more hate than ever before, looking at the beautiful new markings on her skin. The candles on her back were permanent now, and so were the new, colorful tattoos on her body. Though she loathed sugar for what it represented to her, she could only live on a diet of it now. His gift was her black curse, and she twisted the beautiful thing into something ugly once again. |

It's a classic combo for a reason, but what I like the most here is the unexpected twist made by that kind of...cartoony bones on her accent that breaks the whole cliche.
