Lurra

Manager of the Thermal bathes

Cultured | Elegant |Sympathetic l Debonair

Personality
Lurra had a perfectly happy childhood in the Southern Icefields, but she had always yearned for something different than the cold. When she was old enough, her parents allowed her to go free and do as she wished - which included staying with them. But as much as she loved them, she did not want to stay and made her way out into the world.
She remembered fondly during her childhood that she had been taken to the edge of the Icefields. Her parents had taken her to warn her of the dangers of wandering outside the territory - a scary story for a tiny hatchling. She had been told to never go to the edges of the territory, especially the direction that faced - what she knew now - was the Ashfall Wastes.
But as an adult, free roaming the world, that was her exact destination. She flew to the edge of the Icefields that she knew directly faced it. She landed on the hardened ice, her claws wrapping around the edge of it and leaned forward. She could see the huge volcano in the distance, could just about see the red-hot lava pouring out of it. Her wings snapped open and she got into a crouch. The ice cracked beneath the grip of her claws. Her body tingled. She pounced into the air, flapping her massive wings and flew towards it.

Once she landed on the rock-solid ground, actual rock! She walked around slowly. She had no idea where she was or where she could go. But something about this place made her feel home, made her feel alive. Breathing in the slightly ashen air, she sighed. She could make herself a home here. She spent a few years in the Ashfall Waste, under the tutelage of an old and kind fire dragon. In exchange for teaching her how to use fire magic, the dragon asked for her help in maintaining their lair. Lurra had gladly agreed to it, excited to be somewhere warm and learn something new.

The older dragon doubted an ice dragon could learn fire magic, but it came to her naturally. She had struggled to learn how to control ice at home but here she excelled in controlling and utilizing fire and heat. She was terrible at crafting things in a forge like other fire dragons - she was much better at controlling fire and heat. She wasn’t pressured into helping in the forges, instead, she was tasked with keeping the lair warm with fire magic and sometimes tasked with heating the forges for the clan blacksmiths.
After years of her staying there, her mentor was happy with her knowledge and her magical ability and told her she was free to leave. Lurra was conflicted on whether she should leave. Her heart and mind both wanted to stay and leave. Her mentor told her to go explore more of the world - she was still a hatchling compared to them and they would be here if she returned. With that in mind, she left.

She spun and danced with wind dragons. She observed as plague dragons cured the sick. She watched shadow dragons blend in with their environment like chameleons - no matter how bright their scales were. She watched nature dragons sing plants from death to life and life to death. She had sampled every culture in the entirety of Sornieth and still had not found a permanent home.
She was flying through the Lightweaver’s territory and had landed for a rest. She decided to lay down and enjoy the natural heat of the sun on her scales. She was in a forest cleaning, no one would disturb her. The best part of the Sunweaver’s territory was the sun that is always out, she mused to herself.
She was content to lay in the sun, listen to the breeze go by her when she heard the distinct wing beats of another dragon and heard it land close to her. She kept her eyes shut.
‘Ah-hm. Excuse me?’
Lurra opened her eyes and smiled, looking up at the dragon. It was a black Spiral with red wings. An odd colouring for a light dragon, she thought as she looked into their bright yellow eyes.
‘Yes?’ She asked.
‘Why are you laying in the middle of my clan?’
She blinked. ‘This doesn’t look like a cave to me, it looks like I’m laying in a clearing in a forest.’
The Spiral looked embarrassed. ‘Well, my clan isn’t in a cave. We span around this area. In fact, in the forest that way,’ The Spiral gestured to her left with a paw. ‘Is our nesting grounds. Some parents were concerned you were going to hurt their eggs so they called me. Ashabellanar. I’m the leader of this clan.’
Lurra tilted her head. ‘Oh. I apologize, I didn’t see anything while I was flying overhead. I’m a traveler and I needed a rest. I didn’t see anything in sight so I thought I’d take a rest.’
‘Perhaps I can help with that. We’ll gladly take you in until tomorrow if you so wish!’ Ashabellanar jumped and flew around her in circles. Lurra twisted her neck up to try making eye contact with her.
‘That would be wonderful. Thank you.’ Lurra got to her feet and got into the air and followed her until she was lead somewhere she could rest in peace.

She enjoyed her stay with Ashabellanar’s clan so much that she decided to stay there permanently. With her fire magic, she decided to manage and run the clan’s thermal bathhouse. She ran it diligently and thoroughly and made sure everyone got their fair use of the place - even herself. She thought back to her parents sometimes and even managed to send them a few messages via bird. She was glad that she had decided to leave them, otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so happy and content as she was now.
