Biography
Khrynia was relieved. She had every reason to be. Her three little hatchlings were born, all alive, and all of them looked normal, with shiny, faceted wings and pale complexions, like hers. Whatever rumors about increased Arcane radiation were clearly false, and had been founded on false grounds. The Arcane dragons had never done anything wrong before, so there was no reason for there to be something wrong now. She and Quicksilver could prove that the Arcanes were a bunch of attention-seeking bobble heads.
Long after the moon had risen, she still sat next to her hatchlings, cleaning them up and clearing away the eggshells. Quicksilver curled himself around the next carefully, and fell asleep. His breath, which was really hurricane wind, whuffled her wings and the hatchlings were blown sideways sometimes.
As the moon was reaching its zenith, Khrynia finally allowed herself to relax. There was no danger for the hatchlings from the very beginning. To further prove her point, one of the hatchlings opened its eyes and blinked perfectly normal purple eyes at her.
Then she paused as the other two opened their eyes. It was just a trick of the light, right? One of the hatchlings had been blown towards the edge of the nest and was still trying to crawl its way back to her. It was hard to see the exact shade of its eyes since the shadows seemed to swallow them up and turn them perfectly black. The other one, a female, had landed in a patch of moonlight and her eyes were almost violet in the brightness.
Sacrificing her dignity, Khrynia toppled out of the nest and uttered a small yelp closely resembling one of a duck being captured. The one normal-eyed hatchling was pulled along in her talons and wailed belatedly.
